Re: Helicopter Flight Times

I dont do the bonus, as I consider it a sham. There really is no point to it anyway.

Re: Helicopter Flight Times

I break 3 minutes with a 2.07 gram helicopter, once i add clay to make it 2.5 grams and without adjusting the rubber sizes i still break 2:30. This is on around a 5-6 meter ceiling.

Re: Game On C

You can get full points in complexity of movement by implementing acceleration and nice collision detection. Although it takes around 6-8 minutes to implement both entirely since the code is quite complicated (involves 2 different variables, and a few purple blocks for modulating).

Re: Helicopter Flight Times

I honestly wish there was a video to back up that time. Unless you were there and can confirm the helicopter didnt get stuck. Getting a 3:40 seems quite sketchy considering even a thin rubber fully unwinds before then. I still cant get 3:30 using a 2.07 gram helicopter which im obviously forced to c...

Re: Helicopters C

Just build a perfectly balanced helicopter with a free moving stab, even if its not perfectly balanced the upward force should keep it in the same place unless the ceiling itself is slanted. All competitions except MIT and Berkeley that I've gone to so far had rafters, but they're not really an issue.

Re: Rubber Band Optimization

Rubber band width isn't synonymous with body length.

Re: Helicopter Flight Times

I'm honestly saying its flat out impossible to get a 4 minute legit time when the minimum helicopter mass itself is 2.5 grams. The target mass itself just limits way too much. One of my competition helicopters is massed around 2.17 grams, and can get above 3 minutes on a 6 meter ceiling. Adding clay...
