Re: COVID-19

It will be a good time to start social media accounts, and youtube channels right now because people will be spending a lot of time on the internet Getting a YouTube channel for your team going is a lot of fun- we have enjoyed trying to find every single video we have taken of our builds over the l...

Re: Way Too Early Predictions 2021

do we think seven lakes will gain or lose momentum going into 2021? This is an interesting question to generalize - how do people think these cancellations will impact teams in general? E.g. the potential impacts on established programs versus smaller programs. Here are some other factors to consid...

Re: 2020-2021 Events

It'll definitely turn, and hopefully there will be some sort of bonus (scores are way too tight this year). Possibly a can bonus or a ramp height bonus or sm like that. Sorry that NY states was cancelled. PA will prolly fall victim soon also. How would turning work? The ramp would have to curve or ...

Re: Boomilever B/C

Nothing is impossible. I bet with enough tweaking, we may even see 6.5ish g booms that hold all. I agree- I think we will see a score of 3k (6.5g boomi, full load). There definitely won't be many of them but I believe it can be done. Has there been a 3k boomi this season yet? I am not aware of any ...

Re: Boomilever B/C

Our regional was won with a 15 gram-ish boom... Does anyone know what won theirs? I am fairly confident that it'll be impossible to have an 8-gram boom and hold it all. Nothing is impossible. I bet with enough tweaking, we may even see 6.5ish g booms that hold all. I agree- I think we will see a sc...

Re: Boomilever B/C

Hi Boomilever people, So I need some advice on attaching verticals. I don’t know whether to use bass or balsa, or how to get them on properly because of the annoying angles of the compression and tension pieces. My breaks this season have mostly been compression explosions because they bend upwards...

Re: Wright Stuff C

Recording is an interesting topic. Many of the top competitions will announce in the room to not record other teams but this is not always the case. If in doubt, ask the ES to announce it before you go (could be tough in a gym setting, if not impossible). Even then, it is impossible to stop. I remem...

Re: Nerd Inc. Launcher Problems

Hi everyone, I recent purchased the Nerd Inc Model Z Launcher and it seems that the green button switch leaks air? This means I have to pump really hard and then immediately press launch and activate the pneumatic cylinder in order to get the rocket into the air as otherwise, the air would leak out...

Re: Laser Cutting a Boomilever

Also, to clarify my earlier statements, our team does incorporate some laser cut pieces. However, they are all just pieces of the whole that are then hand assembled. There are many pieces on the structure that are completely hand cut.

Re: Laser Cutting a Boomilever

I was just being curious but I was wondering why most teams just don't laser cut their Boomilever, or if anyone ever tried and it just doesn't work for any reason, since you can keep the same consistency with a Boomilever (with the exception of exact grain of wood) Thanks for you thoughts! Although...
