Re: PICTURES, SCORES, VIDEOS!!

It was definitely slower. Although, I like it a lot more when it’s like this. I’m not sure what you mean by bendier though. Meant to say the testing wall bends forward a little during loading. Didnt notice it during testing but the video they sent me shows it pretty clearly I noticed that too. I kn...

Re: PICTURES, SCORES, VIDEOS!!

Medalling efficiency for div. C was 1942. To me it seemed like the testing device at nationals was on the slower and bendier side so it would make sense for the scores to be a bit lower. either way everyone shouldve been affected pretty much equally. It was definitely slower. Although, I like it a ...

First place was 1,561. All tasks, no touches. They will probably end up making a video showing the device but I cannot promise when that will be posted. I have a video of the Nationals run but it is so far away that it is not very helpful.

Re: State Boomilever scores

Those seem strangely low, considering we've had people upwards of 2000 for a while now. Agreed. I think there is a handful of teams that have scored over 2000 but there are also factors at work when approaching full load that cannot be accounted for at competition. We recently just filmed the actua...

If the events become even more complex, then the difficulty of finding quality writers will decrease even more (and, arguably, it is not very good at many regional/state competition, with some...

Div B or C?

Can confirm.
1st: 5.9 g with full
2nd: 6.22 g with full (from above)
3rd: 6.59 g with full (me!)

Did these three use similar designs? That's a pretty tight grouping.

Re: Thermodynamics B/C Build

I feel that would be so difficult to keep consistent due to the difficulty of making sure there actually is a vacuum created within the device walls. Did they keep the vacuum bag on it during testing?? But, if it works, great! I didn't see it in action, but it was a rigid container rather than a ba...

Re: Thermodynamics B/C Build

apparently sticking the box into a vacuum bag, sucking the living air out of it, and then using it actually improves the ability to insulate. I saw a div B team with a box that had an air pump attached so I think they were trying to create a vacuum. Not sure how well it worked though. I feel that w...

It was 2 minutes per station based on the best they could remember (although there was some argument if it was 2 or 2 1/2 per station).

They were released to teams that attended the competition. There was no information about releasing them to the public so I am not sure what their plan is.

Re: Mission Possible C

Try reading the rules again, closely. Section 4.e. says, "The Target Operation Time is 60.0 seconds at Regionals/Invitationals, 61.0 to 90.0 seconds at State, and 91.0 to 120.0 seconds at Nationals." I'm a bit confused because windu34 said they used Nationals rules at MIT, implying the 91...
