Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C

Just had an idea, but don't know how feasible it is. Do you think its possible to slide the cup the 3 meters, without it leaving the floor, and without having the vehicle go with it, in order to bypass having to go forward then reverse? I feel that would violate the spirit of the rules and competit...

Re: Towers B/C

Ok I’ve built three last night and all of them failed. I HIGHLY RECCOMMEND NOT to do this. And if it does work, you need to make a super precise jig. You can try but lots of loading blocks are different weight and making at least a three gram tower seems very difficult just holding the bucket and b...

Re: Towers B/C

Hey guys, So my friend has a question I do not know how to answer. If someone made a bonus tower that weighed very light and doesn’t hold the five by five cm block and pin will the tower still get the bonus after it breaks before even holding the bucket? I wouldn’t even think of doing that but he w...

Re: Thermodynamics B/C

Are you guys worried at all about the time between putting the hot water in the beaker and putting the beaker in the device? I’m worried that the cooling in that time period will have so significant an effect that prediction will be close to random. (In fairness, I haven’t tested myself yet so I co...

Describe in detail how ELISA works. just my luck, I did ELISAs over the summer|In a direct ELISA an antigen is first attached to the 96-well plate. Then, an antibody is added to the plate. This antibody has an enzyme attached to it (for example HRP, horseradish peroxidase). Then a substrate...

Additionally, give two specific examples of human probiotics and two examples of human prebiotics. If only we had you writing tests for the competi...

Re: Microbe Mission B/C

Does "Microbiomes" generally refer to the human microbiome? I can't seem to find much else with a search on "microbiomes" It's hard to exactly say what the rule writer intended there but I believe the ambiguity is there for a reason. I would predict (and I could be wrong...) tha...

Re: Microbe Mission B/C

The problem is, the bacteria in the picture does look comma-shaped, and it has those nice lophotrichous flagella, which makes it look like V. cholerae . Obviously, upon closer examination, this is the stomach mucus lining. I didn't see the mucus part and assumed that the optimal growth pH defined t...
