Re: Protein Modeling C

Like on the rcsb website it says that chain B is the protein and chain A C D are nucleic acids/hybrids. And the description says to model residues 1-85 of the PROTEIN, so I just assumed that we restrict it to B. I may be wrong because it's my first time doing protein modeling. This would be correct...

Re: Boomilevers 2019 (B/C)

So any ideas on how to build a testing apparatus? Or should I wait for the rules to come out first? I do want to start building in the summer though. Basically, put a hook in a strong wall or strong board that won't bend. I would also recommend messing around with some designing and building over t...

No flag is required. Bring what you would like to best represent your team/school/state.

Re: Transport?

Hey, how are you all transporting your mousetrap vehicles to nats? I feel like the safest way is to carry it on in a padded box, but I don't know if I can get it through airport security. Those who have flown with a mousetrap vehicle before, any advice? Thanks. It should not be a problem to fly wit...

Re: Online Scheduling

Has anyone seen a schedule posted that includes when the self-schedule-online build scheduling opens? I cannot seem to find that. Coach Chuck I have not heard, seen, or been emailed any details about Nationals. I keep checking the National website and there have been periodic updates (shipping info...

This is a fairly common practice for the National Competition. It can be difficult to fly with some materials so if you pack them well enough then shipment can be a good option. Also, I have not heard or seen anything updated about shipping.

Re: Towers B/C

In Florida, scores are not official and subject to change within 48 hours of the end of the competition. I am not saying that it would be possible, but if the ES recorded which towers were eligible for the bonus, this could be fixed. Something similar in towers happened in our region and they change...

Re: 2018 National Tournament: Colorado State University

I’m so glad this thread is being used productively. Also, what’s so frustrating about this tournament? (Aside from information coming out late, I suppose). That plus cost, of which everything seems to be 2-3 times as expensive as last year. It is EXTREMELY expensive to get out there. Apparently, th...

If we qualify, I will bring a Boca High shirt for you. I know it is what you have always wanted.

Sounds like you split the beam. It will depend on the event supervisor but they tend to only count the brighter of the two dots.

Re: Mission Possible C

I got second at NYS last weekend... my score was 1340 and they took two actions - otherwise I had a 30s chem timer (it should have been 1 minute but I set it up wrong) and 12 working actions plus start and finish. It was pretty ridiculous how long we had to wait, but they let us drain the ice water...

Re: Thermodynamics B/C

Actually, you could just make tables based on volume that run for about 150 mins each. This way you can use the table to predict the temperature more accurately and easily. WAIT A MIN 150 MINS???? Explain this plz :? :? :? :? :? My issue, however, with this is that in my experience, the largest dro...

Re: Double the wood, half the weight!!!????

Oh ya, and stay away from the accelerator if at all possible. Most will evaporate, but not all of it. what remains will add weight to your structure. And by all means, try not to remove or reglue any pieces or joints. This will double the weight of glue on that joint. OK, I know this is really a pu...
