Re: Flight B/C
Ouch... I knew it was right around that. The official time might be different from my hand timing so I can't know for sure.

Re: Flight B/C
The challenges the venue provided were not because of the AC (which we were really thankful it was off) but more related to the height and obstacles at different heights. Mr. Anderson and others ran the Div C event very well. I will also provide the following advice to all teams- make sure when you ...

Re: Scrambler C
I know the backstop must be 5cm*5cm*0.5in, but am I allowed to fuse the backstop with another part? Here's a picture of what I mean. Oh, and another question-for those of you who use 3D printers, have you ever experienced your pieces deforming from heat/pressure? If so, what temperature? And was th...

Re: Weights?
Hey, what are you guys using for weights? This year has a very short fall height, so I'm considering something wide, but short in height to maximize fall height. I'm a bit confused on what to use for the weight, though... If you're looking for wide, maybe weight plates? A plate is a good option. Go...

Re: Load cells
This is going to cause issues this year. A FAQ was posted that I think some ESs will see and others will not. This IS an official FAQ from https://www.soinc.org/detector-building. 10/05/2022 THE RULES SAY LOAD CELLS ARE CONSTRUCTION VIOLATIONS. ARE STUDENT-CONSTRUCTED LOAD CELLS (E.G. FROM STRAIN GA...

Re: Scrambler C
A Dremel with a cutting wheel will go right through it, but so would a hand saw with a fine-toothed blade. Cut it outside and wear a KN95/safety glasses and you are good to go. It cuts very easily. Dragon Plate carbon fiber products are really good. Their pultruded carbon tubes are a good/fair price...

Re: 3D Printers
There are A LOT of brands out there to pick from. I can give you our take on 3D printers but, initial disclosure, the brand that I recommend has sponsored our team in the past. We used to have several brands of 3D printers but this was actually a problem due to every printer being different, filamen...

Re: Scrambler C
Thanks! Makes a lot more sense now. One issue with a rigid frame that I've found is that if you don't have a drill press and screw up on your axle holes, one wheel won't touch the ground, causing traction/steering issues :( Struggled with this issue for 3 years, tried everything from weights to cut...

Re: Scrambler C
Hey, what are you guys using for frame material?(of ETV) I've used all types of wood and they generally don't work well at all... Balsa: too soft, if the chassis is handled roughly the axle holes will warp and enlarge. also hard to keep the frame in the same position without any warping/shifting if...
