Re: 2014 National Tournament: University of Central Florida

I would like to note that Science & Arts tied with Springhouse. What is the tiebreaker rule for nationals? Based on medals, SAA has more, but Springhouse has the highest placing with 2nd in CJAP. Most golds, if still tied then most silvers, if still tied most bronzes, etc. Also, due to a scoring mi...

Re: Illinois 2014

Does anyone know of any good summer programs that enhance science learning for kids who are in SO? IMSA is a great program but already filled, doesn't necessarily have to be in the state? I know some who are looking for a good summer program that's fun and educational.

Re: Illinois 2014

I don't think teams should go in there "expecting" to win. That's what will get you in trouble. But if you go in with the attitude that I'm doing this because I LOVE Science, and did my best, then you should be happy. The problem with some teams is that they always "expected" to win and were then n...

Re: Illinois 2014

The problem with some teams is that they "expected" to win and were then not gracious in the process at times. I don't think you can make that claim if your only evidence is that they cried afterward. Just because they were disappointed does not necessarily mean they were expecting to qualify. When...

Re: Illinois 2014

When I said 'step aside', I didn't mean they'd get second and opt not to go. I meant they wouldn't qualify. And my prediction was almost wrong but right, nevertheless! Congrats to S&A, though MM is in about the roughest position possible. They're not in the roughest position possible...they've had ...

Re: Did you make it to Nationals this year?

Congrats to the people on SAA for pulling through as underdogs! Good luck in nats! I'll also be going from Missouri's 1st place team. What a nice sentiment! Now, this is what SO should be about...congratulating other teams and wishing them well. Good luck to all the teams at Nationals! Remember, ju...

Yea, those were awesome capes, weren't they? Very creative! And what great attitudes that team had!

Re: Illinois 2014

While I agree to an extent, can you imagine announcing that middle school teams will no longer be able to compete at states or nationals? While it is true that middle schoolers are still in a maturing stage, I don't think you can ban them from states just because of that. Think of all the other com...
