Re: Astronomy C

Can someone explain 2M1207? I don't understand if the companion "planet" 2M1027b is actually a planet, or if it's another brown dwarf or something. I read that evidence suggests that 2M1207b wasn't formed from a circumstellar disk, and because 2M1207 isn't a star, 2M1027b isn't a planet. However, I...

Re: 2014 National Tournament: University of Central Florida

On a completely different topic, I want to say thank you to all the event supervisors and everyone who ran nationals and made the whole thing possible. I know that everyone who attended had such a great time, and all competitors are very grateful to all the volunteers who make it possible. Thank you!

Re: Illinois 2014

I heard from my teacher that they are streaming the competition (or at least the opening ceremony, and I am guessing the closing awards ceremony) somewhere on the Science Olympiad website. I don't think they'll be showing all the build events that are running though, that would be kind of hard.

Re: Unofficial Rankings B

Well, considering they beat Marie Murphy, we can assume that the'll be a strong contender at nationals. They're not as proven as Marie Murphy, b...

Re: Illinois 2014

I understand, but it is a competition, and the competitiveness makes people want to work harder. I missed making the team in 6th grade, and the next year, I worked harder and made the team. Then my whole team failed at Nats, and we ended getting 11 last year at nats, despite me failing. Then this y...

Re: Illinois 2014

Did they step aside? I saw some of them crying when they got third place. I don't think they stepped down. Personally being from SAA, I was shocked because it was the first TIE at IL State in the top 3 EVER. Marie put up a fight , it sucks to have to go down to how many first place medals the team ...
