Re: Illinois 2018

This was a surprisingly strong showing by Lab; placing second and beating out Waubonsie Valley?!? That's really surprising given Waubonsie's typically berth at the upper echelon of High School teams and Lab's typical showing. They seem to be much improved this year. Also, though this is my fourth ye...

Re: Illinois 2017

We have our first discrepancy...yesterday, as stated above, the rank for B division was Daniel Wright, Marie Murphy, SAA, and Twin Groves, in that order; SAA had a score of 150 with Twin Groves having a score roughly 15-20 points higher than that (I don't remember, specifically). However, Avogadro ...

Re: Illinois 2017

Indeed, good luck to all! I'm mostly excited; I've been state before, but the majority of my team has not. I really hope it gives them the same sense of awe I received at my first state. I'm not nervous for my events, but that people won't enjoy it. Nevertheless, my predictions: Division C: 1. New T...

Re: Illinois 2017

So it's been two years since I went to state, and I didn't pay attention to the team results that year. The last time I did pay attention (2014), they gave team awards for A as well as AA. However, I don't remember what they've done the past several years. The information on the official website see...

Re: Illinois 2017

Twin Groves is a really interesting team because they came out of nowhere and, if you pay close attention to their results, have a strategy. When they're on the board, it's often first place. They relatively bomb other events, but the team score works out because the averages are favorable. As for ...

Re: Illinois 2017

I'm also from Twin Groves. Our first year we got 12th (and 6th is correct for last year), and have always been in AA. We are a feeder school for Stevenson. However, we have received minimal support from their team. The only help we got was that a couple of their members who used to go to TG came to...

Re: Illinois 2017

Ah! Did not know that. That would make perfect sense, however. As much as I love a good underdog, I must confess I'll be rooting for my alma mater SAA to pull through, especially if Twin Groves does feed right into Stevenson. That doesn't grant them quite the outsider status necessary for my support...
