Re: Dynamic Planet B/C

Can someone make a list of the formulas we need to know? It's my first time doing this event and States is in a few days. Thanks! There's usually not too much math in Dynamic but knowing how to do buoyancy and specific heat will cover most math that could show up. Buoyancy Weight of displaced fluid...

Re: Forensics C

Another question: What's a good way to differentiate PETE, PVC, PC, and PMMA? All of their densities are greater than that of a saturated NaCl solution(PMMA and PC are approximately equal). My teacher mentioned that stepping on a sample of PC and PMMA would be a good way to differentiate those, beca...

This test is located in the test exchange: http://www.scioly.org/wiki/images/3/3a/ ... Test_3.pdf

I was wondering if anyone had the answer key to this test? If so, that'd be great!

Re: Hydrogeology C

http://groundwater.beehere.net/#getting-started Is this the simulation we'll be getting at the competition? (With different numbers, I mean) It doesn't seem too complicated as it leads you through each step. Or will the proctors give us a similar simulation that does not lead us through each step? A...

It's About Time C

It's about time SOMEONE made this question marathon! (Corny, I know)

I'll start it off with a pretty simple question.
How many leap seconds have there been and when was the most recent one inserted?

Does anyone know the order of the 5 major ocean gyres in terms of size? According to ScienceDaily , the South Pacific Gyre is the largest. Yet, according to Wikipedia , the North Pacific Gyre is the largest ecosystem on Earth. Does anyone have any other information concerning this topic? Pretty sur...

Re: Geologic Mapping C

http://rniccage.com/geology/3_point_problem/ Can someone help me out with this problem? I understand most of it (I think) except the last part. How do we know when to make orange marks? I see that we make the mark at the 1st strike's(from the left) intersections points at 600m elevation. But why not...
