Re: Bungee Drop C

I used the fully elastic equation with our cord. Haven't gotten the opportunity to test if it matches the actual cord, though. I'll update you guys if I do get that chance.

Re: Astronomy C

Hi there everyone! Just thought I'd check in with y'all after my state competition down in Las Vegas. So I'm really upset with the running of this event at my competition. I originally had TPS and Astronomy on consecutive shifts. During lunch, they decided to move every event forward--but then in th...

Re: Bungee Drop C

Hi there everyone! Just thought I'd check in with some things I figured out only a few days before the competition, and how my state competition was. So, the equation doesn't work with masses at the extremes--and I can't believe I didn't realize this at all before. At low masses, the weight of the c...

Re: Simple Machines B/Compound Machines C

Hi you guys, I'd like to check in with you all after my states competition last week. So my event was run by someone that really wanted us to have a great competition--but IIRC, he was only put in the event that morning. We explained both portions of the event to him during the event. We had a 3 que...

Re: Technical Problem Solving C

Lol, our states test for TPS had nothing of the forensic sort one might expect. My partner and I spent weeks studying bullet trajectory, blood splatter, thermodynamics, etc. Well, we had only lab to do at states...and it dealt with just analyzing momentum and impulse... -___- The scenario was a car...

Re: Nevada 2015!

For anyone competing today, best of luck! Hopefully I'll see someone here! blindmewithscience - do you have the Nevada B/C state results? I don't have access to the scores yet, but the placings were: B Division: 1. Hyde Park 2. Davidson Academy of Nevada 3. Southern Highlands C Division: 1. Clark H...

Re: Astronomy C

Do you have any tips on reading absorption spectra? I know what they're supposed to look like and the standard absorption bands, but I saw a test recently that had cutouts from (I think) this picture and asked us to label OBAGKFM. Problem was, I couldn't distinguish between G5 and K0 (among others ...

Re: Simple Machines B/Compound Machines C

Could someone please explain the hook thing? Im confused :( Whoops, thought I reliped to you last night... So each mass will be attached to a loop, as specified in the rules. But with some compound levers, it's difficult or impossible to actually hook them onto the lever. In order to solve this, so...
