Re: Florida 2019

The best guess I would have is a scoring dispute. I’m not an ES or otherwise involved in running the event, though, so don’t quote me on that. On a more general note, congrats to everyone who competed, and to Boca and Archimedean for winning the bids to Nationals for Division C. I kind of wish my la...

Re: Poorly Run Event Stories

Fun story while waiting for Regional results. 2019 Central Florida Regionals is the first time that Ocoee High School has hosted, IIRC. They’ve done great, and I want to commend them. That said, apparently the planned event supervisors for Sounds of Music and Experimental Design dropped out at the l...

Re: How do you format your 1-page event pages on GOOGLE DOCS

Google Docs is okay as a starting point for both partners to get their information in order, plus that way you can work on it on multiple devices. Definitely agree that Word and/or Google Sheets is a better place for formatting the final cheatsheet, though (can attest to Sheets in particular, I mana...

Re: Poorly Run Event Stories

A fun one from the Elementary Science Olympiad we held yesterday... For those not in the know, Elementary SciOly was doing Science Bowl as a trial event this year. As a former Science Bowl competitor, and someone who still helps my school’s Bowl team practice, Science Bowl is not an event that can e...

Re: Poorly Run Event Stories

Just realized I never posted about Remote Sensing C at Regionals... The test was written by someone who claimed to be an expert in the field of remote sensing. While this may have been true, the test was only 11 questions long- 5 or so of them were multiple choice, and all of the multiple choice que...

Re: Florida 2018

Actually, taking the test apart and dividing it between the two of you is extremely helpful for most test events, since it allows you to complete the test almost twice as fast as you would normally- especially once you get into Division C, or go to State levels. In fact, some State tests are so long...

Re: Florida 2018

6th overall out of 42 teams is nothing to sneeze at. At States, you have quite a few schools that have been doing SciOly for ages and have most of the events down to a science (literally :P ). It takes some hard work, but it's far from impossible to steadily improve your placements at State, until e...

Re: Florida 2018

I think they just posted the results about an hour ago, so there’s that. (And congrats to you guys! It’s exciting to see a relatively new face take the gold.)

Div. C results:
1st: Archimedean Upper Conservatory
2nd: Boca Raton Community High School
3rd: Orlando Science Schools

Re: Florida 2018

Question, has everyone else received the news article for Forensics already? I don't believe that our team ever received ours, though we're in the process of double-checking to make sure there wasn't a mixup.
