Re: Ohio 2016

I don't understand how Flea is being sarcastic and condescending by making a valid point. Eventually that point will be made, so it's better that it is discussed and refuted right now. I'm pretty sure Chalker will have a logical response to all of this when he comes on. Uh, I think they were referr...

Re: Ohio 2016

I'm pretty sure chalker wasn't even on the arbitration committee; if you read his post, he refers to the arbitrators in the third person when he was talking about deciding the five-point penalty. "Centerville appealed this penalty, and after lengthy conversations amongst the event supervisor, the s...

Re: Ohio 2016

I'm curious as to what Centerville's reasoning was for choosing to practice in that specific hallway with the same material as the competition floor. Same here. Oh well, I guess it's finalized now, nothing we can do. I feel really bad for both Mentor and Centerville, judging by the responses, becau...

Re: Ohio 2016

Ethic rules are not always clear cut. Look at glider/wright stuff, it is clearly stated in the state website (http://ohso.osu.edu/state-tournament) that they are allowed to practice in the competition area prior to the event. For scrambler it is clearly stated that it is NOT allowed. However there ...

Re: Ohio 2016

Calling the act of practicing on the competition floor prior to competition day as cheating is going too far. Further as far as I am aware, there is no written rule against this. How is practicing prior to competition not cheating? They are gaining an unfair advantage. Here is exactly what the E. V...

Calling the act of practicing on the competition floor prior to competition day as cheating is going too far. Further as far as I am aware, there is no written rule against this. Even if it's not cheating, it's extremely against the spirit of the competition (which IS a rule.) "Teams are expected t...

Re: 2016 Hype Thread

Also, here's a C division bingo board for this season. I tried to make it applicable to all states and tournaments if you want to play multiple times. B division board soon to follow. https://i.imgur.com/bGAdmDk.jpg I'm pretty sure that, by the end of my first invite, the entire board will be cover...

Re: Events 2015-2016?

One suggestion that I would like to make is that I do not believe that having Green Generation conflict with Dynamic was a good idea. Although Green Generation is listed under the life sciences category, it really aligns more with the earth science events. Hopefully the committee can address this w...

Re: laptop or ipad for highschool?

This year, our high school started a program where every student was given an ipad (mainly because ipad textbooks are cheaper than physical textbooks). What happened was students kept playing games on them, so that all teachers refused to let anyone have ipads out, even if they were just taking not...

Re: Proudest Moments

I got ribbons and medals in A&P (my favorite event) all the way from the first invitational to regionals this year. That was our second event to do that, and our team is kind of legendary for being generally horrible at A&P. So I'd say my proudest moment was getting a medal in it at regionals. (Espe...

Re: Events 2015-2016?

Is there any chance you could make the rules for TPS less vague? Even when my team works hard, and knows a lot there is still so much room in the rules, vs. events like Dynamic Planet where the rules are pretty straightforward. Just a thought though. Also is there any way to pick which events are s...

Re: Poorly Run Event Stories

During a Chem Lab test at a recent competition, the proctors gave us two rows of wells and told us to put about 17 drops of liquid into each one and observe the reaction. This would be fine and dandy if only they hadn't actually given us microwells which can only fit about 5 drops of liquid per well.

Re: Poorly Run Event Stories

I think I have a few good ones. 1) That year where every Anatomy test we got was completely off topic. This includes questions about the Lymphatic system and the Cardiovascular System, in a year where neither of the systems had anything to do with the original systems. 2) There was a state test for ...
