Re: Remembering Len Joeris (Balsa Man)

This is shocking... He brought so much to this community. With every one of my posts (and those of others) that he personally gave guidance too, I'm confident to say that he was instrumental in my progress with towers. We are missing a big part of this community now, but he surely won't be forgotten.

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C

How do people manage to cover the entire distance with banebots? I can't get enough string; if I use the length i actually need, i lose the tension. Ended up hurting my score really bad, so I have to switch back to CDs How long is your vehicle? Ours is almost 50cm between the ends of the front and ...

Re: Hovercraft B/C

What type of battery would be best? 9v? 9v NiMH rechargeable? 8.4 battery pack rechargeable? 7.2 volt battery pack? LiPo batteries? And why? Conventially, LiPo's would typically be the best, for their weight, consistency in power (comparatively), among other things. However, note that they would NO...

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C

For those using Banebots, which color are you using? We've been using orange so far, but I'm wondering if the car would benefit at all in terms of precision if we used harder wheels (blue). Also, Banebots are obviously a bit heavy in the context of mousetrap vehicles. We tried drilling out the wheel...

Re: Helicopters C

When flying my helicopter, I have been experiencing issues with the knot in the motors getting caught against the motor stick. Not sure how much it actually affects performance, but it definitely makes some unsettling noises when the knot keeps making snapping noises as it moves against the motor s...

Re: PICTURES, SCORES, VIDEOS!!!

Here's a photo of a tower that WOULD have been for the Kenston Invitational today -- unfortunately, really bad weather hit (very icy roads), and our school administrators cancelled us. It held 12.75 kg and weighed 9.53g, giving it a score of 1863 (17,750/9.53), including the bonus. Design was all 1/...

Re: Helicopters C

Dave from Freedom Flight models has a Chinook prototype that is getting fantastic times in an 8 foot ceiling. This will probably be a very competitive event. Building finesse will be ultra important. PS, He got a few of his Ideas from Roy when that video clip was taken. Based on the past, kits shou...
