Re: Your Daily Random Comment

Go up to them, make small talk for a bit of time, then bring up your birding interests, show them what you've done, than transition into asking them about Ornith. (or You: Hola, what do you think about <insert current happenings of mutual or general interest> (once topic is running out) You: Have I...

Re: Your Daily Random Comment

Tfw you joked about find where the beats are games with the first movement of Tchaik 4 but arguably it’s much more fun to play that game with anything by Stravinsky :P

Re: The Argument Game

But we can all agree that classical easily tops rock and rap, right? You're all wrong. Techno and "EDM" for da win. Rock is not better than rap. They are equal. Equally bad. Shouldn't this be a Posting Game? Otherwise, rap is horrible, most rock is pretty good, but Country's a little better... Pop ...

Re: 2020 Rules are out!!

In the 2020 rules for cheat sheets in the study events it says cheat sheets are with any information "from any source with out any annotations or labels" does this mean we can't write on our cheat sheets? I believe it means you can't have things like sticky notes on it, but I could be wrong. You sh...

Re: Binder Events

That being said, having binders is a decent burden on competition day. I am planning on trying out for six events, five of which are binder events, so that will be quite painful. Small counterpoint: I had a bunch of binder events for Regionals last year, and I just put them in a box. It was super e...

Re: Circuit Lab B/C

The website allaboutcircuits.com is pretty good for beginners, although it isn’t a textbook. That website was a great introduction and relatively easy information, with a few sections that could be a bit more difficult. I highly recommend this one for people that don't have a solid grasp on physics...

Re: Ornithology B/C

Hasn't having a list outside your binder been standard for Id events(at least for fossils and rocks)? That doesn't make it any less strange. So one person can do classification questions and the other can look for more info? Yes, you can have the list outside the binder for various purposes while s...

Re: Ornithology B/C

The list says "Screech owls" but doesn't give a specific species. Should I submit a question to clarify? Also, the scientific name for the European Starling has a typo (should be Sturnus , not Sternus ). Anyone else find it extremely weird that some birds on the list are given scientific names and ...

Re: Machines B/C

Curiously, rule 4.e forbids tests from asking participants to calculate dynamics. Preventing the calculation of force on objects seems to excise much of the physics behind such a physics event. Perhaps, though, I have misunderstood what this line is saying? My present understanding is that the rule...
