https://www.desmos.com/calculator/efiabgnr7l Here are some equations I made that model the efficiency vs number of bracings for trapezoidal prism shaped box boomilevers with X bracings and 1/8th square balsa columns. Green uses linear regression for the relationship of balsa critical load vs mass. B...

Balsa Wood Database??
So basically I wanted to compile a database of the Critical Load - Mass relationship of all kinds of balsa sticks. It would probably be helpful to lots of people for reasons I don't know yet. Personally, I wanted to use the data to make a mathematical model for the ideal bracing/stiffness combinatio...

Re: Boomilever B/C
I suppose there are ways of getting really scientific and testing the tensile strength of bass, but the problem comes in actually attaching a quantifying device such as luggage scale. With 1/16" material this can very difficult without either mashing or bending the piece which adds shear force...

Re: Boomilever B/C
The 1/16 square basswood tension members I use can never seem to get full load. What density tension members have you guys seen get full load consistently? Also I remember reading something about using a luggage scale to test the tensile strength of tension members. Does anyone have any specifics on...

Re: PICTURES, SCORES, VIDEOS!!
Medalling efficiency for div. C was 1942. To me it seemed like the testing device at nationals was on the slower and bendier side so it would make sense for the scores to be a bit lower. either way everyone shouldve been affected pretty much equally. It was definitely slower. Although, I like it a ...
