Re: Scores

We scored 21.26 (8.8cm, 3.66 sec for a 10.5m target) at the CMU invitational and placed 6th

Re: String Unraveling?

I wouldn't say that's the only way to solve it. Last year, I had this issue, and it was really affecting our runs, so instead of starting our mousetraps with the built-in trigger, we made a lock on the axle that could be released with a pencil (this was legal under last year's rules - not sure if it...

Re: Codebusters C

Looking for opinions here, I'm curious what everyone else thinks of the rules. I've always wished they'd lean more towards the cryptography/math intensive problems and shy away from the monoalphabetic tasks (I see them as more repetitive, less thought provoking). Each year so far the rules have mov...

Re: Score Discussion

Any scores from Nationals?
Solon 11.31
Troy 16.35
We scored 31.8 and got 10th; angle was slightly off on the first run but when we tried to correct on the second we had something go wrong with the drive string unfortunately.

Re: Nationals Event Discussion

Codebusters (5) - Like basically every other team, we solved the timed question way slower than we expected (4:12); I think we were second in our room to solve it. As I said earlier, we also ended up missing the weird-looking Baconian, the 3x3 Hill (as it was only 100 points for some reason) and bot...

Re: Nationals Event Discussion

For all you codebusters, how did you do? (time and how many questions answered) We got 3rd with a time of 5:57 (yikes). However, I'm pretty sure we got everything else (unless there was a dumb mistake) right except one patristocrat that was 600 points. I was surprised we placed because of the time ...
