Re: Triggering the Vehicle

So using the pencil as part of the release mechanism is ok? At the Mira Loma Invitational I saw a few teams hang their GV off the pencil. I'm not sure if the wording in the rules indicates this is legal? Rule 5i. "The pencil may be used as all or part of the release mechanism". But do note, also in...

Re: Scores

Mira Loma Invitational Top 3 Scores (estimated):

1. Troy: 18.9
2. Mountain View: 19.6
3. Albany: 28.4
What was the target distance?
Distance was 11.5 running cross-grain on a gym (wood) floor. The floor was in pretty good shape IMO.

Re: Scores

We have yet to run in a competition, but will be running at the Mira Loma Invitational this weekend. Our home floor testing indicates an average score of around 15, best of two runs. Every once in a while we'll score below 5.0 landing nearly on the target point. Our run times are approx. 2.6 seconds...

Re: Gravity Vehicle C

Does anyone have any ideas on how to keep the vehicle going straight when going down the ramp? Use a rail or guide system. I will not get into specifics, but there are many possible implementations and you can get clues by observing train systems, monorail systems, ski jumping and bobsled competiti...

Re: Score Discussion

11.31 at Nationals was a very impressive score for Solon. Looking at this thread and summarizing it looks likes these were some of the very best MTVs this year throughout the nation:

1. Solon
2. Troy
3. Ladue
4. Mtn View

Re: Mousetrap vehicle 2019-20

You will learn a lot building a vehicle or vehicles. Since you don't know exact rules yet, I'd concentrate on building a vehicle that travels a typical SCIOLY distance, e.g., 6 to 12 meter range, that had pretty good speed, and high accuracy. Most of the vehicle events you place a dowel on the front...
