Re: MIT Science Olympiad Invitational 2024
MIT 2024 Scrambler - ES I was the Scrambler ES. Overall, I was impressed by the quality of the devices that we judged. In addition to the graph of scores I have attached below, I wanted to provide a few comments to help teams put their experiences in perspective and identify areas to improve. We sa...

Re: Scrambler C
Agree with prior comments. Seen multiple devices with 4s times with pulley only. With spring, can probably get to 1.5-2 seconds, but if you're not dead on every time right now, you should definitely focus on accuracy.

Re: Scrambler C
Thanks windu! How are you guys timing/measuring? I take videos but they are hard to measure time with. For measuring i measure from egg to wall but it's kinda hard because of the curve of the egg-anyone got an easier way? Stopwatch. We've always found stopwatch plus watching the vehicle to be more ...

Re: Scrambler C
Hey does anyone wanna trade scores in PMs? Curious to see if anyone has gotten below 3sec in time. Yes people have gotten < 3 seconds. Nobody <2 seconds at MIT - fastest I recall was ~2.1. I would emphasize that distance is far more important than time. If you are consistently below 3-5cm, then I w...

Re: MIT Science Olympiad Invitational 2023
Does anyone have raw scores for top 10 Scrambler and Flight? Raw scores in some form will be released, but likely as histograms as done previously and not specific scores and teams. I was the ES for Scrambler. I will not post raw scores or histograms until given permission from MIT SO. They might b...

Hi all - I will be supervising Scrambler. If you are interested in meeting up to discuss design and how to improve you devices sometime today (Friday) or tomorrow before awards after the last time slot, please feel free to approach me. I think chatting after the last time slot before awards is ideal...

Re: Scrambler C
I know the backstop must be 5cm*5cm*0.5in, but am I allowed to fuse the backstop with another part? Here's a picture of what I mean. Oh, and another question-for those of you who use 3D printers, have you ever experienced your pieces deforming from heat/pressure? If so, what temperature? And was th...

Re: Weights?
If you're looking for wide, maybe weight plates?pumptato-cat wrote: ↑November 10th, 2022, 5:37 pm Hey, what are you guys using for weights? This year has a very short fall height, so I'm considering something wide, but short in height to maximize fall height. I'm a bit confused on what to use for the weight, though...
