Re: Replaying Events for 2021

With replaying rules, I'm not going to enjoy next season very much... I almost don't want to do SciOly next year, but I really enjoy it as a whole. lowkey same I've heard the same sentiment from current competitors. This will probably push some of them over the edge to quit next year. Since a major...

Re: Covid-19 and Nats/States

Michigan State University has suspended classes until April 20th. Sure, State is after that date, but I would be very unsurprised if it's canceled...

Re: 2020-2021 Events

Speaking of Source Code, I really think we need to get that as a trial at Nationals. I know that's basically a prerequisite to becoming an official event. Michigan has done a lot of good work with Source Code as a trial event and has proven it to be pretty successful. I'd love to see it tried at Nat...

Re: Michigan 2020

Allendale Invite Results: 1st: Saline HS (60) 2nd: Forest Hills Central HS (166) 3rd: Portage Central HS (173) 4th: Allendale HS (173) 5th: East Grand Rapids HS (180) 6th: Plymouth Christians HS (183) Any word on what happened with WMAA? They looked pretty strong earlier in the season, so I assume ...

Re: 2020 Rules are out!!

Boomilevers will now receive huge bonuses for holding the entire load. Finally, I won't be bothered when the audience only claps for unbroken boomies ;) Seriously, this is a great rule change because it's much closer to the goals of structural engineering: Hold the specified weight with as little ma...

Re: Michigan 2019

For the 2020 season, Michigan Science Olympiad will allow teams to register 17 members for any competition within the state. Source: http://miscioly.org/more-of-a-good-thing-team-size-17/ Personal thoughts: This decreases the average number of events per member from 3.27 to 2.88. My teams were alway...

Re: Michigan 2019

What was the scoring error? Allendale was scored as a no-show in Designer Genes, while they should have been 4th place. That would put you guys at a tie with Aviation point-wise then, right? Are ties broken based on number of first place medals? This also bumped WMAA down one point, so it's not a t...

Re: Science Olympiad Events 2019-2020

Expected changes: - A&P returns to whatever systems it had in 2016 Does anybody know why A&P stopped doing random systems and instead are using a four-year system? I believe that they have been trying to make every event rotation much more organized in recent years. I'm not entirely sure of the rea...
