Re: 2019 Princeton University Invitational

Hello! Disease ES here. The score distribution had clusters on the low-mid and mid-high ends, indicating that I probably didn't have enough medium difficulty questions to spread teams in these ranges out further. This is nuance of test writing that hopefully I'll be able to improve over time. As for...

Re: Best Times

Then I believe both of Mason's helicopters broke (correct me if I'm wrong) early during the flights. Yeah pretty big understatement here. Catastrophic failure is more like it. Also we had 3 helicopters but 1 broke on transport and we never fixed it because we weren't really planning on breaking eve...

Re: Ohio 2018

I've heard rumors that Centerville's SO team overlaps with their Science Bowl team (of which the latter's Nationals is on the same day as SO State). Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Re: Team Numbers

I already posted some of my thoughts in the other thread , but I wanted to reiterate here. The fact that Texas, one of the 3 most nationally competitive states, is going from 2 bids to 1 because a few schools in DC wanted to be counted as their own states for a free nats bid is ridiculous . The bid ...

Re: Texas 2018

You're reading it right - Texas gets one bid for Div C after DC joined :/ Does anyone else think this is ridiculous? Even if Nats for Scioly is ultimately about maximizing state representation, taking Texas down to 1 bid compromises the competitiveness of the National Tournament to what is, in my o...

Re: Buying commercial kit Vs. building ground up

Just to clarify, was the OP a coach? I'm not familiar with the abbreviation DS.
DS is short for "dear son," straight outta the COLLEGE CONFIDENTIAL forums. Miss me with this uninformed saltiness--leave it on CC where it can be quarantined from us innocent, uninfected kids please!

Re: Disease Detectives B/C

Are the diseases being tested limited to the ones on the FDA chart? Thanks. They are not...that is however, a good place to start Thanks! What other diseases should we be looking at? The FDA ones are some of the more common ones on the test. There is no "list" for all the diseases, you could just g...

Re: MIT Invitational 2018

theres been a significant lack of bio event talk. :?: any comments on disease or microbe? any medaling raw scores?? The disease test was pretty vanilla. I liked the shots at SnD, but also I'm pretty sure info needed to complete all the calculations in the stats sections was missing. Better than the...
