Re: WSU National Results

This was BY FAR the best robot competition I experienced and it was run very well. Two attempts brought the pressure down to a reasonable level; setup time allowed for scientific calibration and adjustment; the task was simple enough that everyone could compete, but complex enough that there were n...

Re: National Test Discussion

Division C Robot Arm (25): Run super well. Our arm didn't perform nearly as well as we wanted it too, but that has nothing to do with the running of the event itself. Everything was super transparent and centered around helping the teams do as well as they could within the rules. Chem Lab (32): I pe...

Re: Ultimate Frisbee Tournament!

Hey Everyone, I just wanted to confirm that the tournament is happening at 12:30 at the fields that Salil marked in google maps. Salil has a schedule problem with his team, so I'm taking over for him and running the tournament. If you see any teams tossing a disc or anything feel free to let them kn...

Re: Robot Arm C

As it turns out, the actual smallest diameter that 12 pennies can fit into is 77.07 mm, assuming a 19.05 mm penny diameter. The engineering toolbox calculator creates concentric rings of pennies that do not overlap, however in real life, the rings of pennies can overlap slightly (they can fit into t...

Re: Robot Arm C

Hi everyone, I'm wondering what you guys use for your controller to arm links, and what kind of pots you use. I was planning on using ~10ft of ribbon cable with my arduino at one end and a bunch of cheap analog 10K pots at the other, but the interference is way too big. Turning one pot 180 degrees p...

Re: Robot Arm C

This is a little nitpicky, but are the lines between rings completely within the lowering scoring of the two zones? In other words, is the diameter of the white (or whatever base color) circle in the middle going to 8 cm, or 8 minus the thickness of the line cm. If the line is even half a millimeter...

Re: Robot Arm C

I had a question about the rules and haven’t been able to find an answer. A few event supervisors at past invitationals I have been to were also a bit unsure about this part of the rules. Our robot base fits in the 25 x 25 x 100 cm space; however, we have some wires that come out of the 25 x 25 cm ...

Re: Pictures and scores

Hey windu, That's a nice arm, and I could even tell as soon as I looked at it that it wasn't the master plan you've been hinting at from all your posts this year. I had a question about the carbon fiber you use. I just saw the link your coach posted on the EV forum to buy it, and I was wondering wha...

Re: Robot Arm C

Is our arm with the pennies allowed to extend out of the testing boundaries? For the back left stack, our arm can slide it to target, but the path involves moving the pennies out of the tape for a little bit. You are certainly allowed to do that, but there are no guarantees as to how far whatever s...

Re: Bill of Materials for EV

I'm also trying to choose what to buy based on very little experience. What do you guys think of this combo? https://hobbyking.com/en_us/hobbyking-x-car-8-5-turn-sensored-brushless-motor-4000kv.html https://hobbyking.com/en_us/hobbykingr-tm-x-car-45a-brushless-car-esc-sensored-sensorless.html 4000KV...
