The scale for the smaller map is larger, meaning the map and all the details will be larger. The 15 minute map, which is double the size of the 7.5 map, has half the scale so they can fit more area in. this also makes everything smaller. Hope this helps!!!

we use a weight that falls down a tube design, but we had to shorten our tube. To get it to shoot farther, I drilled about 150 1/4 in holes down the side of the dropping tube. Our machine can shoot over 10 meters

Also try to keep the bridges light. (i.e. less glue, light wood, less wood) for more points. Ours weighed about 9.6 grams, but the winning one at NY state last year weighed like only 5 grams. (Or that may have been regionals?)
