Re: Circuit Lab B/C
I know that the rules mention RC time constant questions, as well as capacitor questions, being permitted in division c. Would questions regarding other aspects beyond simple calculations of an RC time constant be permitted? I would think that if resistors and capacitors are permitted, then by exten...

Re: Science Olympiad Events 2019-2020
Based on the SOSI schedule, It doesn't look like Robot Arm will be returning for the 2019-2020 season. I would advise against preparing preemptively for it and focus on other events that are expected to return.

Re: Your Daily Random Comment
It actually is alot to ask for. For most of those tournaments, having multiple national medals is practically a prereq to get asked to superviseTheChiScientist wrote:Oof. I just wanna go into Div D and help out at invitationals around the country... (MIT, SOUP, etc) Is that too much to ask for?

Re: Science Olympiad at MIT Invitational 2019
Delegation necessitates others willing to do the job. Hopefully MIT has some, but as large as they are, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't. Caltech's a much smaller place but there's no shortage of people willing to support every aspect of Science Olympiad. But that's probably just another reas...

I'm looking at this: https://www.amazon.com/Intelligent-Digital-Thermostat-Temperature-Controller/dp/B07G27YVS5/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1536117423&sr=8-1&keywords=DC+9V+intelligent+Thermostat I don't know if this is technically considered programmable though. Rules for the mission are ho...

Re: Events 2018-2019
Assuming that Sounds of Music will be returning, is the test portion still an interview or have they changed it to a written test? The 2019 event descriptions were put up recently. Sounds now has a written test, and teams only build one instrument. They haven’t revealed what the required piece is t...

Re: 2018 National Tournament: Colorado State University
I would advise against this. The current guidance being sent to coaches by the Tournament Director is that practice runs/flights for mechanical devices will only be allowed Sat morning, in the event venue, and at ES discretion. I know teams have been penalized in Ohio in years past for ignoring sim...

Re: Test flying eliminated?
I think they are only going to allow test flights on Saturday morning in order to ensure all teams have equal opportunities, regardless of travel schedules. Do you know if something similar will be incorporated for the vehicle events in the ballroom? I'm pretty sure none of the vehicle events will ...
