Re: New Jersey 2018

how many people from MIT and Harvard were at MA state tournaments for example? Not many because the locations of the state tournaments are not in Boston and aren't really close to any major public transportation stops. Owning a car in Boston, especially as a college student, is pretty dumb because ...

Re: Events 2018-2019

what event comes after mission possible?
It's typically Mission -> Robot Arm -> Mission
what event does trajectory replace
Trajectory is in the physics rotation with Sounds of Music, Hovercraft, and potentially other events (that rotation is a mess tbh)

Re: Team Numbers

On the bright side, only two future tournaments have been assigned thus far: Cornell in 2019 and NC State in 2020. Both are good opportunities for expansion in my mind; Cornell hosting nationals can be thought of as the start of a new phase of alumni-involved tournaments, and NC State is a large sc...

Re: Team Numbers

In light of D.C. getting a bid, would other territories (e.g. Puerto Rico) get bids if they wanted them and showed enough interest? IMO the second bids should be determined as such: - for each state look at the placing of the worst team from that state at Nationals the previous year - give extra bid...

Re: Chemistry Lab C

Has anyone taken the University of Michigan invite test? My partner and I did the test yesterday and we were wondering if anyone was able to correctly do the math on the lab. Advice as well would be really helpful. Thanks! Test writer here- So let's say you have x moles of NaCl and y moles of CaCl2...

Re: Why are there so many boys and so few girls in Middle school competitions?

I'm drawing estimated numbers here because I don't feel like actually counting, but per grade, our boy:girl ratio has been 6:1, 6:7, 3:4, 10:1, 4:5, 3:3

Sometimes the ratio is pretty good and sometimes it's awful, but it only ever really swings towards boys.

Re: New Jersey 2018

In case anyone was curious, here are a few summary statistics for the Optics C test. Section I was out of 50 points and Section II was out of 55 points, for a total of 105 points. Definitely could have made the test harder but the distribution was around what we were aiming for. Section I Mean: 30 ...
