Re: Scores?

At the Michigan state tournament we finished 3rd with a score of 24.0. 2nd place was 23.? Didn't know the exact score but from my own timer and view it would have been between 23 and 24. 1st place was probably between 18-19. My timer showed 1.55 sec and it looked to only be about 3cm off. The car st...

Re: Electric Vehicle C

3000mah 7.2V NiMH battery, DC brushed motor, belt driven gear set. We originally had a faster motor but didn't have enough traction to use it. Kept spinning out.

You can definitely get enough speed with a brushed motor setup.

Re: Electric Vehicle C

Brushless motors are great, but a brushed motor is just fine for this event. We're using a brushed motor and battery directly connected and getting times in the 1.75 to 1.80 sec range. We have been the fasted car at both invitationals so far this year. Sometimes simpler is better.

Re: Scores?

We just won at an invitational with a score of 23.3.

1.75sec, 5.8cm off. 2nd place was 28, 3rd was 35. Very competitive invitational. Obviously we were very happy with it. On to Regionals.

Re: Rules contradiction?

For the last time, there is no contradiction. The device does not have to be a 80cm cube, just has to fit within an imaginary 80cm cube. You can make your device any size smaller to allow it to rotate if you wish. If you make it 80cm square, then you are correct, you will not be able to rotate it. E...

alignment

What is everyone using for aiming? laser? Scope? I was thinking about using some type of jig to align the vehicle. Imaging U-shaped rails that would keep the car going straight for a few centimeters before it crossed the starting line. I know this isn't the forum for official rules clarifications. B...
