Re: WSU National Results

Well - the boards/courses were very nice and you did a great job making them all very similar from what I could see!

But . . .doesn't rule 5b. say the target is to be "taped down on all sides or marked onto the Competition Area"? :D

Re: WSU National Results

This was BY FAR the best robot competition I experienced and it was run very well. Two attempts brought the pressure down to a reasonable level; setup time allowed for scientific calibration and adjustment; the task was simple enough that everyone could compete, but complex enough that there were no...

Re: Hovercraft B/C

They did not announce it, they posted labels on the track that only a few people could see. Div B announced it. That made it completely unfair. Teams that went later in the day could watch the event and easily get an idea of time and distance. All you had to do was time a run that was called for the...

Re: Hovercraft B/C

Follow the rules? They also state you have to announce the distance and time, which they never did.

Re: Robot Arm at Nationals

It was a great event - thanks for everyone's hard work! I think DaPlug is referring to the picture in the rules that was changed. It showed the dice in one location, and then a new picture was posted (above) with the dice in a different location. I know many State competitions setup based on the pic...

Re: Robot Arm at Nationals

A pencil is only 8 mm thick, so +/- 5mm gives a variance range greater than the object's width. I am sure everyone will do their best to setup the courses precisely and use straight edges,t-squares, etc, but did they maybe mean +/- 0.5mm variance?

Re: Wind Power B/C

We were just at another invitational where the supervisor interpreted the rule to mean blades cannot be within 3cm of the center on the FRONT of the CD, when the rules state it applies BEHIND the mounting plane. I hope someone can clarify this soon!

Re: Wind Power B/C

I am confused also. To expand on what 0ddrenaline is asking - The rules state "no part of the blade assembly may extend BEHIND the mounting plane of the CD for a radial distance of 3 cm." They go on to clarify the reason for this is to "ensure clearance with the motor/generator support stand." There...
