Re: Science Olympiad Events 2019-2020

Great, thanks for the link to the list! Thinking of starting over the summer...hopefully it doesn't conflict with my other events or I'll have worked over summer for nothing haha

Re: Science Olympiad Events 2019-2020

Will Ornithology be a binder event? In the previous rules competitors seem to have been allowed a published field guide. However, given the other events in the rotation and how it's switching in for Herp, can it be safely assumed that it will be a binder event? Ornithology this year as a trial even...

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C

That’s simply to change the wheel/axle ratio. There’s more info on that on the wiki I believe, and elsewhere online. And the guy explains how the wheel/axle ratio affects ideal mechanics advantage in the video Great, thanks! Edit: For the lever arm that causes the axle to rotate, should the string ...

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C

In Mark Rober's video, he mentioned that an MTV built for speed should have smaller wheels because you don't need rotational inertia for distance. However, does the benefit of larger diameter wheels (and thus farther distance travelled per axle rotation) balance this out, or would it be wise to inv...

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C

Hello all, In the rules, it states that the cup should cover the vehicle starting point. I understand that most tracks have a piece of tape indicating the point and its front or back edge as the point. Is the cup supposed to cover only the point or the whole piece of tape? Thanks! Although I'm not ...
