Re: Wood Glue Types?

At the start of the season I started with just regular elmers wood glue. Then right before regionals I switched to titebond, and had a major downfall. I went from a 1505-1526 at invitationals to a 787-838 at regionals and states. Could my glue switch be why? Or could it have been my wood quality an...

Re: Wind Power B/C

Regarding transmission lines, what type of information should you know about the voltages, resistance, power, etc.? Does anyone know a reliable source to find energy production percentages?(like what percentage hydroelectric or wind accommodates for the world energy production) Every formula pertai...

Re: Wind Power B/C

Does anybody have an estimate of the 1st place voltage for at the Northern California competition last year? Our balsa turbine is attaining about 1.2V, and I do know that varying setups will yield varying voltages, but it would be nice to have a ballpark estimate. Also, any idea what material and g...

Re: Wind Power B/C

Should I make my turbines concave or convex? Also, should I use tape or glue to attach the turbines to the CD? Concave, pitch the blade so that it is in the direction of lifting off of the cd. If it were convex, then the turbine cannot catch the wind from the fan. By this do you mean concave to the...

Same for me.

Re: Wind Power B/C

I got 600mV on high speed with no resistance. However, we are only using 14 cm blades. Whenever we increase the blade length, it becomes slower. We are thinking it is because of the added weight longer blades bring to us, but I am hearing from other teams that the longer the blade the better. Can s...

Re: Wind Power B/C

I disagree. Every test almost always has something to do with terms...And half of the time you don't know what they're asking about in a question and need to flip to a 'glossary'. I find that having a list of definitions of different wind power terms is extremely helpful for this event. I have a li...

There is no set list of terms you need to know for this event. I would worry more about learning the concepts that are in the rules. I disagree.
