On this note, does anyone have any predictions for competitve PPP times in 25 feet at Solon? I'm thinking 18-28 seconds would be a decent range of top scores...

I predict that someone with the initials AA will win with a time of 27.8 seconds.
AA and AK 😳🤫
But mainly AA

Cone material can be cardstock for short ones, and plastic mylar for long ones. You can use plastic easter eggs for a blunt tip, or even a ping pong ball.

TheMysteriousMapMan wrote: November 4th, 2019, 3:51 pm With these clarifications, would an Arduino Uno still work? I'm better with the microcontroller software/circuit construction than the microcontroller hardware.
Yes, with the spesifcations, the Uno is legal.

Re: Detector Building C

10/13/2019 MAY STUDENTS ADD A MODULAR ANALOG-TO-DIGITAL CONVERTOR (ADC) TO THEIRMICROCONTROLLER? No. External signal conditioning boards are not allowed. So even though it makes no sense to limit the use of external ADCs (they are not external signal conditioniners), I guess they are now explicitly...

Re: Detector Building C

My students are using a thermistor with an arduino currently and I didn't let them know that an equation exists that relates resistance of a thermistor to temperature. So to solve the problem of the relationship between voltage and temperature not being easily modeled they came up with equations th...

Re: Detector Building C

I am just confused why they crossed out "external signal conditioning board cannot", which implies that you can use the board. But in another question, they state "External signal conditioning boards are not allowed". So are we like allowed to use them or like not. If not, then a...

Re: Detector Building C

Use of a pre-bought signal conditioning board to attach up to the micro would certainly feel a like breaking the spirit of the rules. Putting something on a breadboard that the student assembles themselves (or however they did it), should be allowed. No one is specifying how you read an ADC value a...

2. ADC: Arduino built-in ADC only 10 bits, too tight for 0.1 degree C, so plan to use 16 Bit ADC (ADS1115) . Isn't this not allowed, according to the FAQ? Re: Detector Building C

1. Calibration Curve fit: thermistor with full Steinhart–Hart equation, 4 points. TMP36/M35: also 4 points to the 3rd degree of polynomial. So in #1, you said "full Steinhart–Hart equation, 4 points ", does the 4 points mean, input 4 points instead of 3? Because in my findings, I have dis...
