Re: Tryouts vs Acceptance in Your School

We don't cut people, and have around 60-70ish people (out of 400) spread over 5 teams, with the bottom two teams having some open spots, largely owing to poor event distribution. Thats exactly what my team does. How many of those teams are competitive? It's abit unbalanced, but our top 3 teams usua...

Re: Electromagnet Task

Is it feasible to power the electromagnet with the water circuit? I'm not sure what amount of salt you're using or current, but I've struggled to transfer enough across the water circuit to power anything other than LEDs, so I would think not. However, perhaps other people have been having more suc...

Re: Game On C

what do you guys do for sound. Also what counts as complex sound? I tell my team to beatbox (as that's all that 8-bit music really is, anyway), but they won't do it. :( I still think that's the best bet here. You could use Scratch's instruments and whatnot to make music, but I think it actually wou...

Re: Supervising Setup

I was curious as to whether you guys have seen/experienced a specific way of running Mission Possible that you felt was superior/optimal as far as checking in, check-listing, and scoring the actual runs. I would definitely recommend you bring a copy of the FAQs and rule changes, as they are quite s...

Re: Mission Possible C

I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on coaching this event. None of my kids want to do it this year, and the one kid who said he'd do it just informed me that he's not doing SciOly this year after all  This event is very hard, so none of the kids want to even try to attempt it. We'r...
