For alumni who went on to coach teams, how did you go about contacting teams/starting to help out?

Re: 2020 National Tournament: North Carolina State University

This is complete speculation, but it may be possible that the state sends the team with the lowest score across any regional competition in their state. This has never happened with scioly, but I personally experienced it with a different competition last year. Last year, it was a snowstorm that pr...

Re: Sounds of Music C

At Centerville, the Sounds ES used Audacity to isolate the fundamental frequency with a Fourier transform and used that to determine the cents off of everyone's instruments rather than something like pascioly or a phone tuning app which takes the overtones into consideration. I was wondering if any...

Sorry if this has already been answered somewhere, what software was used for instrument testing at MIT? Always nice to find out how our instrument would fare with varying software (although ideally it shouldn’t change at all lol)
pascioly.org/sounds
That's what nationals will be using too.

Re: Sounds of Music C

Some clarification abt MIT sounds. Apparently our proctor at MIT just doesn’t know how to work a usb microphone because I tested using the same microphone that they’re using at nats and it picked up from a foot away. Maybe the proctor didn’t actually connect to the microphone and was using his inte...

Re: Best Teams That Didn't Make Nats

Div C: 1) WWPN (Amazing at UPenn, very volatile states and barely lost, had momentum from last year’s nats) 2) Centerville (3rd place to two top 4 teams; fairly strong invites performances) 3) Camas (momentum from last year’s nats, looked strong but had very questionable 1 point loss at states due t...

Re: Sounds of Music C

What do people think they’ll do to change up the event for next year? My partner and I were speculating, and we thought they may change it from playing a series of pitches to playing a series of volumes at a fixed pitch.

Re: Nationals Event Discussion

So someone came into my sounds testing room with me and basically videoed/photographed (I think videoed, but not sure) my entire build run. Is this normal? I’ve never encountered something like this before. Normally I wouldn’t raise any eyebrows, except this event is coming back next year, and ther...
