Re: Sounds of Music C

So my partner and I have been using Sci Journal, and I agree with everyone who says average doesn’t really work for this event. As someone earlier calculated, a single 0 moment can bring the pitch score down to 0. There’s really no way to circumvent this. Even when placing the tuner next to our ins...

Re: Sounds of Music C

Two cents (literally two things): I feel like the average is quite possibly the WORST way to judge the pitch of an instrument. If the player starts off flat (or very flat) but is able to correct the pitch, it doesn't matter. The average is not a resistant measure of the center. Median would be bett...

Re: Sounds of Music C

Do any of you have suggestions about the binder? This is my first year doing a binder event, so how do I make sure my binder has everything I need without printing every single thing? The UNSW website is pretty long. I'd suggest printing everything you could where need to know as long as it's still...

Re: Triggering the traps

We don't especially want to trigger them separately other than they are separate traps and we get a little more out of the traps if both are locked down. If we have to use a pencil vertically it requires two hits, if you can lay the pencil across them of course that works but don't think that is le...

Re: Sounds of Music C

The rules state that: "The pitch measurement will be the average value during the 5 seconds.". To me that means that the average will be taken from the entirety of the 5 seconds, and not what looks like the average fundamental. My bad I thought you were asking from a competitors point of ...

Re: Sounds of Music C

What apps or programs are you using to measure the average pitch? Soinc recommends to use the Science Journal app by Google, but it include 0Hz as part of the average in data collection, causing the average to be lower than the actual note average. I know that you can repeat the note as many times a...

I like to use 1/4" carbon fiber rods. They are incredibly light and strong.

Re: Build Idea

A better way to approach design would be to look at simple Electric Vehicles that have been posten online from past Division C competitors. There are many videos online that have good designs for Battery Buggy that don't use microcontrollers.

Does the direct link to my comment not work? It's meant to link to the comment I posted.

By the way, please do this on the 2017 version once it comes out.
