Re: 2020-2021 Events

So are they not considered helicopters or elastic launched glider for c? I'm down for another year of wright stuff, but does anyone know what their reasoning would be?

Re: Ornithology B/C

Oddly specific question: In "Practice Test Division B" under the old test exchange, is specimen 6 a magnolia or yellow-rumped warbler? Not sure if you are still wondering the answer to this, but it looks like a yellow-rumped warbler to me. The yellow splotch beneath the wing seems to match with the...

Re: Ping Pong Parachute B/C

I've noticed how some people put holes in the middle of thier parachute, could someone pls explain why people make a hole in the center of the parachute? Doesn't the hole make the parachute descend faster?

Re: Ping Pong Parachute B/C

What is the ideal ration of string length to parachute diameter? I can't find it anywhere, and I'm sure it has a crucial role in flight times.

Re: Times and sec/ft

Launcher inconsistencies is the biggest problem with this event. With one launcher, I use 10 psi and my rocket goes around 20 ft or so. At one of the invitationals I went too, I launched at 30 psi my first run and it went around 5 ft or so. I think next year there should be one or two launchers that...

I'm surely going to miss this invitational. After 5 years of competing there, I am confident it will be run perfectly. Good luck to everyone!

Re: Wright Stuff C

I'm having trouble getting my mylar to not be wrinkled. I heard of blowing a hair dryer over it, but are there better solutions?
By the way, I also make sure to always crinkle it up before attaching it to the wing.

Re: Wright Stuff C

So, what exactly are the benefits of flaring propellers? Should I focus on making one this year, considering I have a working plane and I understand all of the basics about the event?
