Re: Towers B/C

Hey everybody! I would just like to get a general idea of what a tower to get top 3 at a non competitive state (Missouri) would have to score (at the state competition). I know that many people have commented about top profile invitationals such as MIT which required 1400 to make top 20, and had top...

Re: Towers B/C

Hey guys, So my friend has a question I do not know how to answer. If someone made a bonus tower that weighed very light and doesn’t hold the five by five cm block and pin will the tower still get the bonus after it breaks before even holding the bucket? I wouldn’t even think of doing that but he w...

Re: 3 Sided Tower?

So, how'd it do? really bad Score of 1697, weighed 7.01 held 9.9 kg (+2kg bonus). 24th place. The issue was the bracing. It wasn't strong enough, and after the bracing broke, the whole structure followed. Kinda disappointing that I missed that... I finished reading your post about why 3 legge...

Re: National Tower Scores?

I know 5th place (Tower Heights) held 12.08kg and weighed 4.08 (2960).

Not me by the way. I got 20th (Wydown) held 9.9kg (with bonus) and weighed 7.01 (1697)

And I've heard a rumor Gelinas got around 3400 (disappointed cuz they were expecting 3900

Re: 3 Sided Tower?

Okay so I'm going to take a triangle tower to nationals. It weighs 6.9 grams on my scale but usually my scale says things are heavier than they actually are, so it should be about 6.5 grams. The reason I'm going with 3 legs is because it worked for me better than my not-very-good 4 leggers did, and ...

Re: 3 Sided Tower?

However, to keep the same weight, you will have to drop the density of the 3/16"x3/16" sticks down. The volume of the stick is V = L s^2 and density is mass/volume ( D = m / V , so since we want the mass of the 3/16"x3/16" stick to equal the mass of the 1/8"x1/8" stick, we have m_{(1/8)} m_{(3/16)}...
