Re: University of Michigan Scioly Invitational 2020

If you are referring to the IM building near the “Hill Dorms”, seems like that would be workable. I think that there’s a footbridge over the main road, if I remember correctly (U of M LSA H 1974-77). The teams walk distances like this between events for States on the MSU campus. Another thought to ...

Re: University of Michigan Scioly Invitational 2020

We will take a look at doing the flying events at the IM building next year. We’ve avoided it for the past 3 because it’s a 15-20 minute walk, but it might be the best choice at this point.

Re: University of Michigan Scioly Invitational 2020

A few thoughts before I fall asleep for the next day. First of all, it was a pleasure having everyone on campus today. I really hope everyone had as much fun as we did, and I hope everyone gained something special from the competition. With gravity vehicle (Canton)... I’m too tired to really look in...

Re: University of Michigan Scioly Invitational 2020

Will teams be allowed to take 17 people per team, like the Michigan state competition now allows? We will be keeping teams at 15 people per team. Also, in case some coaches did not receive the email, registration will be opening tomorrow, September 18 at 5:00pm EDT on our website at umichscioly.org

Re: University of Michigan Scioly Invitational 2020

I'm happy to announce that the 2020 UMSO Invitational will be held on February 15, 2020! We've sent an email out to high school coaches, and we will send an email to middle school coaches shortly. We expect to set the team cap at about 60 Division C teams and 30 Division B teams this year. Registrat...

University of Michigan Scioly Invitational 2020

Quick update on the UMSO Invitational for 2020. We are tentatively planning on February 15th for the competition, but that date may change slightly; we’re still working on securing an auditorium, and the university operates rather slowly in the summer. We are planning to host both Division B and C t...

Re: Poorly Run Event Stories

Most of the tests at Michigan States were too easy, there were 1st place meadals down to 30th place, and placings down to 50th. I competed at MI States for 4 years in high school, and I tend to agree with your statement in general. However, just because a team that places low overall gets a medal d...
