2020 Solon HS Invitational

Hi everyone! I am pleased to announce that the 26th annual Solon High School Science Olympiad Invitational will be held on February 1, 2020! Last year, our tournament hosted 72 teams representing six states. I'd like to extend a special congratulations to the five participating schools who placed in...

I think you're asking the wrong Chalker if you want rules for a tech committee event :P

Re: Science Olympiad "Dynasties"

With the constant changing of coaches, it can hard to keep everyone focused given the uncertainty for next year. There was also a marked decrease in interest in Science Olympiad after the streak ended (at least at the Div C. level), where it became difficult to even field two complete teams for Inv...

Re: 2019 National Tournament: Cornell University

I would say Solon C has been more competitive than Centerville the past 2 years and will be this coming year. Not only do we have more teams and more national attending teams, but we have more NESs and are continuing efforts to recruit more as well as asking nationally awarded alumni to come volunt...

Re: Science Olympiad "Dynasties"

It really is a blast from the past to remember just how dominant Ohio schools were in the early 2010s. California seems to be tougher overall nowadays, but back then Ohio was the unquestioned king, and it wasn't close. It's also a good reminder of just how good those Grand Haven teams were. One thi...

Re: Nationals Event Discussion

In the coming years, I think NSO should adopt three initiatives to further these goals, and I write them in this forum because all three are central my experience in my events at Nationals this past year: 1) NSO should institute a more exhaustive review process for national tests. This should be re...

Re: Score Discussion

11.31 at Nationals was a very impressive score for Solon. Looking at this thread and summarizing it looks likes these were some of the very best MTVs this year throughout the nation: 1. Solon 2. Troy 3. Ladue 4. Mtn View It should be. Our head coach and two mousetrap students practically lived in t...

Re: Tax Exemptions?

Would SciOly clubs, by extension of the parent organization, count as 501c3 organizations? I shouldn't think so, correct? I'll start this with a disclaimer that I am not a tax law expert, but here is my general understanding: Individual teams are not considered extensions of the national organizati...

The target is going to be a doctor in "a number of years", according to the clue, because doctors know if iinsurance covers meds, right? Does anyone know any med students or people who publicly plan to be doctors? When your own sister forgets you... I read through all of your posts and di...

Re: 2019 National Tournament: Cornell University

Just a few questions: When will the event supervisor lists be uploaded, and will there be auto-loaders for both Div B and Div C Boomilever? Moreover, when will all the homerooms be sorted out and posted? The NES list is typically included in the tournament program, so I wouldn't expect one until mu...
