Re: Scioly.org Monthly Event Challenges: Future Modifications
Late to the conversation, but I do agree with the general sentiment that it should stay informal and fun. To that end, my proposal is to allow anyone who wants to run an event (within reason) to be able to do so. Instead of being run monthly, SMEC could repeat over a longer cycle (say, 2-4 times a y...

Re: Common Test Formatting Issues & Solutions
Not really issues, but there are some readability/accessibility best practices I think a lot of exams could use. Re: My Partners Don't Work Together
If they didn't offer any excuse you should kick them off the team, period. When you join any organization you commit to, at the absolute minimum, showing up. Failing to show up when you have committed to doing so, then not even offering what sounds like a genuine apology afterward, is categorically ...

Re: Musings on Test Length
Personally, I've never changed the length of my exams based on how big the tournament is. My goal is always to write an exam that covers a wide range of topics at varying levels of depth with an appropriately high skill cap. I believe that, if an exam does those things, then it will accurately measu...

Re: Tiebreakers
For events with stations/slides, I calculate the team's subtotal on each section, then compare each team's highest section score against each other to break the tie. I do this to avoid having a team's ranking affected by a single question, as well as rewarding teams who have deeper knowledge. I do a...

Re: 2019-2020 Cornell Invitational (B/C)
Official results (with fix for Penn Yan) I don't think this is correct? There are event placements for Penn Yan A, I don't think they no showed everything. Hmm, you might be right. The results on Ezra are inconsistent here; I'll confirm with the tournament staff. I wasn't involved in the logistics ...

Re: Div 5 Events
Crime: Teams are judged on their ability to commit crimes and subvert the United State legal system through pre-build and on-site criminal activities. Scores from both sections are weighed equally to determine the winner, with medaling teams being granted a federal pardon, while the remaining teams ...
