Re: Final Action: Putting the initial dropped ball to the tee

Task IX Is pulling a wedge from a golf ball and rolling it 20 cm. I am assuming you cannot use that action and combine it with this one (where the ball ends up on the tee). So using 1 wedge, 1 20 cm ramp, 1 golf tee to count for both task IX and final task.

Re: Action v: Screw and wingnut

Would this task be applicable for a timer, or does it have to be something else?
With no motor, how much time do you think you can get out of this? I cannot imagine more than 10 seconds.

Re: Roller Coaster B

To add onto some other ideas here.... I really enjoyed roller the past 2 years. I was able to place 1st in my state each time. But it really was not the hardest event. Just figure out the biggest jump and win. I would also like to see time factored in more. In addition to that I would love to see 't...

Re: Gap Measurement Question

If there is a 'catcher' above point B (at least .5cm above that track) then it would be fine to measure Y distance. But that was not really what the picture showed.

Re: Gap Measurement Question

Also agree. And I think the gap (even though not labeled perfectly) was labeled and should count for X. It's not like they forgot to label, they just disagreed with the supervisor. Much different than somebody not labeling anything and the supervisor gifting them points.

Re: Battery Buggy B

Not sure if this is the right place, as this pertains more to EV, so maybe the older folk like windy can answer, but i know it's not possible to run a brushless motor without an esc but is it possible to run the esc without using a micro controller Just curious... is this for buggy? Esc's are still...

Re: Vehicle Thickness

Bigger wheels, fewer rotations. Even with moderate diameter wheels it is pretty easy to build under 20 with a wingnut brake.

Re: Score Discussion

Curious if those can adapt for a 50+ time? Scoring is fun this year. Still 80-90 cm is crazy good gaps!

Re: States

1st at RI State Competition :D :D Caliper acted up again  (pro tip don't ever use a harbor freight caliper  ), steering was way off. The buggy traveled in a straight line, but it was angled for a nice bonus, so it hit the wall... both runs... my caliper setting was right, but it just di...

Re: States

I totally had a 0 cm gap, 0 sec run time and was 0 cm away from the target ;) Totally doable! Buggy glider flies over photogate with an on point landing! Anyway at state my goal is under 3 sec, under 3 cm, under 25 cm gate. Can always get a tighter gate but doubt I will need it. Gota study thermo m...

Re: Battery Buggy B

So to measure the angle of my buggy I use this sheet of paper with the angles on it and place it behind the start point. The rules say sighting and alignment devices placed on the track are permitted but must be removed before the run. Does placing the measurement device behind the start point stil...

Re: Vehicle Thickness

Quite easy unless your using like 2 inch diameter wheels. Use 4 inch wheels and you could probably make it 8cm! Really gets more the the question of losing accuracy left/right at some point. I saw quite a few cans smucked last week. Wdym losing accuracy left/right? Just meant that the narrower the ...
