Re: Action vi: Up the inclined plane

But my ramp is not "movable" as it is fixed to the wall. And I am only planning to use this ramp for the golf ball to go down and come back up. If you are only using that golf ball for 1 task you are fine. If not, the golf ball is a movable object being used for multiple tasks and would only count ...

Re: Action vi: Up the inclined plane

I have another question, sorry if I seem like I'm asking too many of them. Can I roll a golf ball down a ramp, and then pull that golf ball back up that same plank and count it as the inclined plane action? I am concerned that there would be something in the rules that says that one cannot use the ...

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle B

what is everyone using for wheels? we were gonna use small wheels but our vehicle is only going 6 meters (on average) with the wheels. any suggestions to make it go further? Bigger wheels, adjust kill arm length, increase/decrease axle diameter. Make a lighter car. Lots of youtubes on this. Lots of...

Re: Can the golf ball in the starting or final action be used in other storable actions?

Each movable/adjustable physical object in the Device must be utilized by at most one assigned action (except the golf ball in the Start and Final Actions) If I interpreted correctly, the golf ball in the staring and final actions can also be used in other scoreable actions. Good question. I believ...

Re: What is considered as combined action?

This is a little unclear actually. For example, I can have a 3:1 gear ratio system directly pull a 2:1 MA pulley system. Will that violate the rule? No, because the actions occur in sequence. The gear system is directly triggering the pulley system (note there is no minimum gear rotation before the...

Re: Wheels

If we have the Banebots T-40 wheels and a 3/16 in axle, what are our options? Banebots only sells metric hubs for those wheels at 2, 3, 4, and 6 mm, and 3/16 in is about 4.7 mm. T40s are great wheels but definately on the heavy side. If its helpful, you can buy metric threaded rod to mesh. Or drill...

Re: Materials

Are we allowed to 3D print parts of the mousetrap's base to act as a slip-on? Our team researched for a while but we couldn't find an answer.
What is a slip-on? If you mean print a mount that holds the trap, that would be fine as long as you do not modify the trap.

Re: Speed

Still curious as to anybodys speed they have seen at invitationals maybe. And yes, I know accuracy is more important. Is like 7 seconds to 12 meters in the ballpark? We can do that with 0 skid. Was looking at div C last year and they were moving along pretty fast but had 2 traps.

Re: Clarifying "Initiates the next action..."

I agree that most of the tasks on the sample ASL would meet your criterion, but look closely at tasks one and two: In task one, the golf ball hits the wedge. In task two, the wedge separates two golf balls. Wouldn't your interpretation make that illegal? The wedge is a movable object that is necess...
