Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C

Has anyone experimented with docfizzix cd tires? If so, how well do they work? Is it worth getting them instead of balloon tires or 3d printed tires? According to Doc Fizzix, his DVD layers are half the thickness of regular CDs, thus reducing rotational inertia, so there might be some advantage ove...

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C

So I just built my first prototype but am experiencing some issues particularly with the axles. I'm using 1/4" threaded rods as recommended, but the issue is that as they spin they will actually rotate like a screw in the axle holes, so then the car will become misaligned and the wheels will hit th...

Re: Dynamic Planet B/C

So I know someone already asked about note sheet organization, but I too am curious about how, specifically, people like to lay out their notes. Last year, I broke down my note sheet by topic, essentially having one section for each bullet point on the rules sheet. The issue was that, especially as ...

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C

is there a better way to do the braking system than making something to stop the wings of the wing nut from moving along the threaded rod? (sorry in advance if you find this question to be worded weirdly)
Short answer is no. At least not anything that anyone has come up with as of now.

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C

Okay, then, I probably was looking at the expensive ones or at a ripoff website. There's a huge range in prices with the high end being on the order of several thousands of dollars. That's not to say that the super expensive one's are low value or "ripoffs," they're just intended for different appl...

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C

You can still get Banebots wheels, just in a smaller size. I'd recommend you either a) make your own wheels (this can be done, but is pretty hard) or b) find a way to use smaller banebots wheels in your design. You can practice with 3d printer wheels that mimic the banebots (in diameter, attachment...

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the traditional breaking system (regardless of which axle it's on) not work this season? It's been discussed in some of the earlier comments in this thread. The short version of it is that a traditional breaking system with some simple modifications still works...

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C

Am I missing something, or are everyone's cars gonna be super slow this year? With the old track layout, the maximum distance that your car ever had to travel was 10 meters, and because most of that distance was going backwards towards the VTP, you could design your car to take a relatively small n...
