Re: Senior Reflections 2022
Hi there. I haven't been super active in the SciOly community but I still would like to share my thoughts. My first draft was really messy, so I’m going to try again from scratch. Some quick background: I’m the president of American High School’s SciOly team. I’m boring, so I guess I’ll try to put o...

Ornithology Bot
Since orni doesn't have its own forum yet, here is a link to a discord bot that helps you practice your bird ID! There's more info on the channel. Songs/calls are included. (currently using 2019 trial list, we're not allowed to use draft list yet, will be updated as soon as actual list comes out) (N...

Do people normally get States/Regionals tests back?
I was wondering how common it is to get tests back at regionals/states since we don’t. I’m also wondering when people get there tests back if they do (as in before or after awards, a week later, etc) Also, do any states or regionals release score distributions? If an grading error is found on a retu...

Re: Poorly Run Event Stories
Yikes. What’s the point of nats (or any competition) if they’re just going to reuse a test?hmmm wrote: whats even sadder is that waqua div b this year at nats reused the nats test from 2012.
Why doesn’t scioly have a rule against copying past tests/ large portions of past tests?

Staying Motivated
Sometimes, it feels like people (including me) are pretty motivated up to Regionals, and then not as motivated up to States. There are no major academic things happening the month before/after States.
Is there any way to keep everyone motivated all the way up to States?

Re: Easiest event for you? Opinions! :3
Sounds, if I'm with my partner. My partner does the music theory and I do the physics (sounds has arguably the easiest calculations between the sounds, circuit, and thermo) and the build is basically an applied formula no matter what instrument you decide to build. Crime was pretty easy too, except ...

Re: Funny School Stories!
One kid asked a question about our finals and our math teacher responded with, "Do you want to be lynched?" Our best guess as to why is because we have been studying TKAM in English and someone had been talking about lynching while the math teacher was listening. She also once left another...
