Re: Sounds of Music C

What is the points penalty if your instrument's notes are in an octave above the range specified by the rules? The rules apparently designate the allowed range as F2-F5 and our scale is C6-C7. How many points would we lose if we still used that instrument?

Re: Sounds of Music C

Does anyone know of any better test exchanges or sample problems resources out there? The only thing I have so far in terms of need-to-know for the test are the basic definitions, like waves, acoustics, resonance, timbre, etc.

Re: Sounds of Music C

No, what I mean was, if we used old wind chimes as materials for a glockenspiel, would that be considered using parts from a professional instrument?

Re: Towers B/C

That's not what I meant at all. With all due respect, I already knew the exact specifications and such. However, we are wanting to use a more unique design that uses just one main beam for each corner, as opposed to 3-4 side pieces combined together for maximum weight conservation. I was wondering i...

Re: Towers B/C

Do any of you have ideas for a jig for this year's design? The biggest problem I'm stumped at is designing a jig that allows accurate attachement of the diagonal cross pieces that connect the base to the main tower. I'm just very stumped on how to cut blocks of wood that allow us to place our main t...

Jig Ideas for Tower C

What jig designs have you all come up with? We are looking into a tower design used a few years ago but are currently stumped on a jig design for it.
