Re: Problem: How to Recruit Members

Thanks. They didn't have a good excuse to ditch because there was NO schedule conflict for their events. Also, they joined around in October so they had 5 months to study.

Re: Problem: How to Recruit Members

Well, would ditching an event be detrimental? They literally signed up and didn't even participate on competition day.

Re: Problem: How to Recruit Members

I think a realistic goal we have is to do better than this year. We got 20th out of 36th. Based on our placing is it even possible to make it to states? For my regional you need to be 4th place or above to make it. Improving from 20th to 4th is quite a step, but not impossible. You won't do it with...

Re: Problem: How to Recruit Members

Thank you. Are you saying that your team didn't participate in every event but in each event there was intense focus on it? If you're trying to go to state, always participate in as many events as you can. I think a realistic goal we have is to do better than this year. We got 20th out of 36th. Bas...

Re: Problem: How to Recruit Members

Thanks. Well we have around 10 people assuming that no new members will join because most people do robotics or speech and debate. I guess you are right about bad people because I don't want to be mean to my fellow members but a few people didn't study at all but it was better than getting last place.

Problem: How to Recruit Members

I come from a small private school with only 300 students in high school. There are 4 major extracurricular activities offered at our school: DECA, MUN, speech & debate, and robotics. Speech & debate and robotics have the most number of members, with around 50 for robotics and 45-50 for spee...

Re: Scioly Achievement List

Extra achievement:
Due to scheduling conflicts by switching our team number, my partner arrived 30 minutes late for Fermi Questions yet we still managed to get 2nd place 8-). Solo by myself for 30 minutes. Also credits for my partner's work for half of the time!

Re: Protein Modeling C

There is an awesome video here to memorize the 20 amino acids properties and categories + abbreviations: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m130s94pMjE Once you memorize that, you have a basic understanding. You should also have a good understanding of how DNA works. For an interactive CRISPR, that ca...

Re: Protein Modeling C

For experienced Protein Modeling people, how did you manage to finish building the on site protein within the time limit while maintaining accuracy? Our group didn't practice a lot and seems to be a bit slow.

Re: Fermi Questions C

What's your guys' advice on working with your partner? We did around 3 practice rounds and got 59% on the 2018 MIT test which is relatively good.
For me, I work well with my partner but I want to hear from other people's perspective especially about efficiency and checking answers.

Re: Protein Modeling C

For the on site build is it on MSOE or do they use the JMOL program? If it is the JMOL program, isn't it the same functions as MSOE?
