That’s interesting. However, the event focus for Disease has not ever really mattered much through the years.

Re: Nationals Event Discussion

Disease Detectives (10) : Supervisors only gave us 40 minutes to complete the test so it was a time crunch until the very end. It was completely different than any prior Nationals tests — there weren’t two distinct case scenarios but rather one general knowledge section and one case study. The ques...

Re: Illinois 2018

That State Awards Ceremony was by far the most thrilling one I’ve ever experienced. It was amazing.

It’s sad that MM didn’t make it because they performed well all year. But SAA did a fantastic job and posted a great score. Very deserved.

Re: Remote Sensing C

Is it just me or has there been a shift away from specific satellite information compared to last year? It seems like the tests have gotten better overall.

Re: Disease Detectives B/C

Does anyone else find that they hardly use their note sheet on tests? Maybe it's been higher quality tests or just experience but my partner and I almost never use our sheet excluding biases and some specific pathogen information.

Re: Remote Sensing C

It's a shame Remote is rotating out! Remote Sensing is such a great event with topics revolving around Climate Change and its contributing factors as well as satellites and the actual process of satellite imaging. Mixed in are various physics concepts that are truly interesting. There is such a dive...

Re: Is Science Olympiad worth it?

I think for the people who view Science Olympiad solely as a tool for college admissions, they are free to think what they want to think; however, it is only their loss. No matter how many medals you win, the lessons you learn from Science Olympiad are numerous and invaluable. In my experience at a ...

Re: Science Olympiad at UPenn 2018 Invitational

We drove 13 hours from IL to Penn, and I have to say it was worth it. From my experiences and from what I heard from the rest of my team, the quality of the tests was great across the board. Disease (1) - Probably one of the most fun tests I have ever taken! It was long and managing time was a real ...
