Re: New York 2020

I think you should make the slots for test writers unlimited. Then once everyone has signed up start to dwindle the people to the more experienced or knowledgeable ones. But how do you decide who is more experienced? Are you going to PM them individually and ask for state/nat medal counts in the ev...

Re: New York 2020

In my opinion, the test writer for each event should be the one that is the most qualified, not the first one to sign up. Thank you @bennythejett! That would be great, but how do you determine qualifications? National placements could be a start, but that is largely dependent on partners and which ...

Re: Southern California 2020

Hello SoCal! New York State is organizing an online tournament to replace our cancelled state tournament. We thought maybe you would like to do the same. Maybe NY competitors can sign up to write tests for SoCal and SoCal competitors can write tests for NY. Let me know what you think. Check out the ...

Re: New York 2020

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Seeing how there is a lot of confusion on what to do, and someone has to take command of the ship, I have created a spreadsheet where people that want to potentially write a test for a virtual tournament can sign up to write a test. The hope is to get some Division C members...

Re: New York 2020

Maybe you don’t need to many tests written if the State is willing to share those tests with you that were going to be used at States. States is unlikely to share tests because they may reuse them for other states. What if we do an exchange with SoCal where we write tests for them and they write te...

Re: 2020 National Tournament: North Carolina State University

With rumors of New York states being cancelled, would it be possible for some of us to compete in other states if that happens?

New York States has been cancelled.
Yeah I'm a little bit skeptical of an account that was created 16 minutes ago not giving a source . . . As others have said, let's wait for official announcement.

Re: New York 2020

I am furious right now, and here is the backstory as to why: our team was going to states this year, but our county--a country that's kind of in the middle of nowhere--has had a sort of panic shutdown over the coronavirus. No schools in the county are allowed to have field trips outside of the coun...

Re: Astronomy C

Has anyone found good resources on gravitational waves? I haven't seen anything about them in the textbooks I use, and all of the online sources are pretty basic.

Re: Dynamic Planet B/C

There was a question on an invitational test about residence time that I'm confused about. On the answer key, they subtracted the output of the element from the input in order to get "net input", then divided the total amount of the element by the net input to get residence time. I thought net input...
