Re: Gravity Vehicle C

Just to explain why the dowel has to be where it is: if the dowel is in the back, and the car is 60 cm long, the second photogate won't be tripped if the car has to travel 9 meters, as the dowel will fall 10 cm short of the laser, so timing won't stop. The dowel defines the measurement point on the...

Re: Density Lab B

I saw the official density lab kit only provide the Spring Scale. That’s why I want to know if small digital balance will be there.
That's up to the ES - they can provide you with whatever equipment they like in order to perform the hands-on tasks.

Re: Density Lab B

Does any one know that “the small digital lab balance” will be provided in the Density Lab hand-on test or not? Thanks.
Read rule 2c.

Re: Ping Pong Parachute B/C

Any rocket with a nose cone or something covering the ping pong ball and parachute would have to come off to release the parachute, so the rocket coming down won't have the nose cone anymore and would be just the blunt end of the bottle. I don't see how you keep the rocket with rounded nose intact ...

Re: Ping Pong Parachute B/C

So from my interpretation/understanding of the rules, we need to have a nose cone that will cover the ping pong ball, but it is ok for this nose cone to separate from the rocket so that the ping pong ball can detach? I don't see that a nose cone is mandated at all, it just says the nose of the rock...

Re: Gravity Vehicle C

I was wondering what forces could make the car, while going down the ramp, move away from the surface of the ramp in the x-direction (if x was parallel to the ground)? I was thinking it could be the center of gravity of the car in the x-direction. In other words, the CG is too high above the car. W...

Re: Braking

This is my first time on a vehicle event, and I was wondering what the difference is between having the braking system on the front axle or back axle. Do you own a bicycle? If you compare stopping with the front brake only and stopping with the rear brake only, what is the difference? Try it (somew...

Can we use a multimeter to be an alternate for salinometer?
Only if you built the multimeter.

Re: Ornithology B/C

We can only have a field guide and a page of notes, right? No binder? Wrong. Read rule 2a. Seriously, please read the rules. Don't rely on hearsay, or what your coach told you the rules were, or some powerpoint summary of the rules that someone made. You can download a copy of the rules form soinc....
