Re: Florida 2019

Did anyone do forensics at states last year? If you did, what flame did they provide for powders?

Re: Florida 2019

Regionals tests are almost always interesting and do not completely follow the rules- whether it be one question or nearly the entire test. Although review might be a solution to the problem, it would be time consuming to do it for every regional across the country and it might be difficult to find...

Re: Forensics C

How much can you rely on the appearance of the powder for the purpose of identifying it? I usually only use the appearance as a last resort to narrowing down. Lets say there are 2 with a yellow flame test, and they have the same solubility, etc. then I would go to the appearance... I think they wer...

Re: Sounds of Music C

I took the University of Florida test. It can be found on scioly.org/tests. I wouldn't say it is very hard. I thought it was hard because I didn't even study parts of the scales/intervals. I took it as a practice (a month away, so binder isn't 100% finished). Well, I live in the Bay Area and there ...

Re: 2019 Harvard Undergraduate Science Olympiad Invitational

Im so glad you enjoyed it! I certainly spent alot of time trying to write a balanced exam (not just pure physics or music theory) that focused on application with relatively few questions that could be answered from a binder. Admittedly, i may have put a little too much saxophone and jazz theory on...

Re: 2019 Harvard Undergraduate Science Olympiad Invitational

Sounds: The test was probably the best I’ve ever taken in my Scioly career (shoutouts to windu34). The instrument testing however had an extremely bad decibel meter (the entire testing room could hear my build through the walls and it only scored 82db when I know it hits over 100). Im so glad you e...
