Re: Mission Possible C

How are you guys planning on pouring the water for the golf ball? Looking for something with low energy input so something small can make a lot of water pour. I did a homemade buret from a syringe that used a straw (there's a how-to on youtube) . It dripped a little before being started, but was fa...

Re: How many points of penalty if coin not flip

Since the coin flip simply did not happen, you just wouldn't get the 50 points for it. There is no penalty unless you touch it.

Re: Pulley Task

could you also have a ramp for the falling mass to go down that increases the length minimally (about 3 or 4 cm, just to make the 500g mass rise an extra .5 cm)?

Re: Inclined Plane Task

Question on whether this is okay or not... My mass goes up the ramp and rises more than 10cm vertically before initiating the next action. However, it usually slides a little bit back down (just enough so that it is not 10 vertical centimeters). Since it still rises the full 10 cm before initiating ...

Re: Endothermic Task

I am waiting on the last part in the mail, but am just curious (so I know if I really need to adjust anything while I wait a week for shipping), how long does this action usually take?
I plan on using a peltier cooler and a thermistor.

Re: Screw Task

What if the screw doesnt actually move at all, but rotates in place, using its threads to move a platform that it is screwed into more than 2cm? The rule only requires the object to move 2 cm, not the screw itself. I know that this was discussed earlier, but a recent FAQ (maybe national clarificati...

Re: Codebusters C

Can anyone please PM me an explanation for the Cornell RSA? I do not understand how do encode the string with numbers, and all of my attempts are nowhere near the answer key.

Re: Studying Question

I usually struggle with long word problems on topics such as energy (just word problems in general I guess). For example: The outdoor temperature is Boston during winter is -10.0 ̊C. Since the wall and theroof of the house are relatively thin (0.500 m), there will be a loss of energy, which isrelea...

Re: Thermodynamics B/C

Hey everyone, Does the initial water temperature correspond to the temperature of the water at the very start (before entering beaker), the temperature when it first enters the beaker, or the temperature of the water in the beaker AFTER the device is fastened? Also, can water be added to the beaker...

Re: Screw Task

Also it needs to move the object 2 cm before trigger next action. But it does, right? It pulls the object off the ledge, which then probably moves more. I dont like this rule because it never says the screw has to directly 'initiate' the next action, which implies that it indirectly can... My under...
