Re: Detector Building C

I think the ban on prebuilt devices is really unclear. All analog-output devices are prebuilt right? I'm having trouble understanding how they would approve analog sensors.

Re: Endothermic Task

I feel like the "intelligent thermostat" would qualify as a programmable part and therefore not allowed. Am I wrong? Yes, i see now. It would not be legal but maybe you could use an analog thermostat. or use an infrared beam with a thermometer to block the infrared maybe? Mercury i think ...

Re: Endothermic Task

Do you have good thermal contact between the cold side of your peltier and the thermostat? If you hit the peltier with an IR thermometer, how cold is it? Are you running adequate current through it? I'm pretty sure this has already been linked, and props to whoever did, but couldn't you use this? h...

Why are microcontrollers banned? Are all of them programmable?

Re: Endothermic Task

Does anyone have a good way of activating something from the temperature change? We're trying to use a peltier cooler right now, but it isn't producing enough of a change to switch a bimetallic thermostat (switches at 15 C). Do you have good thermal contact between the cold side of your peltier and...

Re: Endothermic Task

What if you used the peltier cooler idea with an ntc thermistor and an electromagnet. The thermistor would get cooled and rise in resistance, causing an electromagnet to lose strength. However, im not sure whether there are thermistors that can do this. why are you using an electromagnet? I'm using...

Re: Screw Task

If you attach an object to the screw does it count as a separate object or part of the screw

Re: Screw Task

So I have a golf ball hot glued to the screw in the bottom so that it goes down 2 centimeters and hits a lever to initiate the next action. Would this count as a conversion of rotational force into linear force?
