Re: Machines B/C
I would have to disagree. I do it in around 40 seconds but thats also me going pretty slow. I could definitely see teams getting sub 30 seconds (div c) and still getting perfect ratio scores. Is your machine built to have one mass fixed permanently? Because my design right now has a fixed place for...

Re: Machines B/C
Does anyone know what the IMA of the following pulley is? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZzM_6W ... sp=sharing. The answer key says it's 6, but don't you multiply the IMA's to get 8? This is from the UT Invitational this year. Thanks!

Re: Machines B/C
Last time machines was a nats event, top score was about 98.1, so I'd expect about 44 as the top device score The scoring formula weights time more heavily this year iirc. I would not expect more than exceptional teams to be below 30 seconds in B and 40 seconds in C (with effectively perfect ratio ...

Re: Machines B/C
How do you calculate the AMA of an inclined plane if you are given the coefficient of kinetic friction and the length of the hypotenuse and height of the ramp? Thanks!

Re: Incorrect Ratio Calculation
I think it would help if you posted the equation you're using as well. I have a bunch that your equation doesn't account for the fact that you didn't place the connection perpendicular to both lever arms, but we will have to look at your equation to verify. Basically putting the lever arm connectio...

Incorrect Ratio Calculation
Hello! I have trouble getting an accurate calculation for the ratio of my masses for Division C. Here is a picture of my lever w/ two masses (100g and 200g) attached: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uSsoP6dhUrLHZ2rPX65i3cxhGwsIg_sE/view?usp=sharing So, the calculated ratio is 2:1. However, when I u...

Re: Score Discussion
Anyone have a score prediction for state's competition at Michigan? What will it take to medal? (Top 8). This is my first year doing MV so I'm not really sure how the score for MV will look. I've been hitting 20-60 points during practice depending on the distances. I got 4th place NorCal with a sco...

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C
I have a question regarding rule 3f.: "Wheels/treads in their entirety in the ready-to-run configuration must fit in a 40.0 cm x 40.0 cm space of any height. Axles, drive arms, and other parts of the vehicle may extend beyond these parameters." However, at my regional tournament (in northe...
