Re: Heredity B

When they say we need to learn DNA structure, do we have to learn every chemical and protein associated with it? 99% of the time in events like this, DNA structure consists of things like the names of the bases, what the sugar-phosphate backbone is made of, which ones are purines/pyrimidines, and h...

Re: What is Parachute breaks?

Yeah, I'll do the same. If they say no, the best option might just be to make 2 copies of your competition parachute and rocket (tube has worked much better for us, so all of our rockets have tubes). If something breaks during the tournament, you'll have a second rocket/parachute, so it won't reall...

Re: What is Parachute breaks?

I would say that the best solution is to just submit a clarification, as each state usually interprets things differently. I'm from VA, and I'm planning on asking my coach to submit a question about this. A clarification seems like the best option, so that you can get a definite answer from your st...

Re: Direction Confusion

In VA, I think that they can DQ for taping strings directly, but it's not actually a clarification. I'd wrap the ends of the string in tape to be safe, but just make sure that the strings aren't going to fall off. Thanks, the parachute always took long to build now there is extra work  Yup...B...

Re: What is Parachute breaks?

Thank you everyone for your responses but I have another question(relates to the previous one): Scenario: Me and my partner check-in with 2 rockets, a tube design(rocket A) and a non-tube design(rocket B). We launch rocket A and the let's say the bottle gets a crack in it, can we/ are we allowed to...

Re: Direction Confusion

According to the event supervisor from VA, this means that the strings cannot directly touch the ball. We wrap the end of the strings in tape and then attach it to the ball with more tape, which barely adds any weight. Some states may interpret differently though... Wait really? So I can be DQ for ...

Re: Direction Confusion

My partner and i are new to this competition, and in the directions it’s states that you are allowed to only use tape to attach the ping pong ball the the parachute. Does this mean we can still use string? I'm pretty sure that when they say u can use only tape, they mean that u cant use glue on you...
