Re: New Jersey 2020

Yeah, Princeton High's having a rough year this time around, but that's because we've been going unstacked and/or missing way too many of our key people at every tournament. We threw some builds for Pton (and lost a lot of people to the ACT) because we decided we wanted to work on them more. We shou...

Re: 2020 Princeton Invitational

Pretty well-run tournament overall! Circuit Lab (4): The questions weren't impossible, but the test was flat out too long. We scored less than 50 percent on it due to the time crunch between labs and the questions. Machines (27): Lmao. Our build was way too small to hold the masses, so we failed tha...

We'll get tests back sometime in the next week, but I doubt we'll get medals.

Re: New Jersey 2020

Not counting States, Circuit Lab and Astro conflict at all four of our tournaments this year. Big Sad.

Re: Science Olympiad at Penn Invitational 2019

Hey just for comparison, how many points did you get on the Circuit Lab test that placed you fourth, I did pretty bad and still managed to get around 20th. Thanks. We got around 67-68 points for the entire test and lab portion, way higher than we expected. Our B team placed 11th, and scored in the ...

Re: Science Olympiad at Penn Invitational 2019

It’s not easy, so I’m just going to throw out some ideas. Maybe checking for airplane mode in the beginning? Taking the time to check for airplane mode once, even if it's only in the beginning, might be enough to scare teams planning on cheating. The auditorium setup probably made it harder for you...

Re: Science Olympiad at Penn Invitational 2019

Circuit Lab : Holy crap, this one was rough. None of the material on the test was particularly difficult, but the two labs (both of which were tougher than any other I've ever seen) ensured that each team pairing would be split for a big chunk of the time given. My partner and I managed to place 4t...

Re: Science Olympiad at Penn Invitational 2019

Astro : Again, this was really good. Questions on the exam were doable and long enough to ensure that the best teams would be able to finish on time. The ES made the hardest math question (Tulley-Fisher) doable by splitting the question into multiple parts, which I appreciated. One thing I noticed ...

Re: Science Olympiad at Penn Invitational 2019

Just wanted to give my two cents on how SOUP went... ExD : Well run, but as someone said before, it was a bit cramped. It's a bit of a shame that we had to write our reports on blank sheets of paper instead of actual ExD packets, since it forced us to estimate how long some of our sections were goin...
